This will be useful for people with brand new sites looking to get indexed immediately or those struggling to get Google to index their site.

Step 1. Add your website to Google webmaster tools and click "Fetch as Google bot".

Step 2. Wait a few seconds then type in google- site:yourdomain.com

You will now be listed in their index. :D

Yep doesnt take long in todays internet.

Simply tweeting or posting on facebook can be enough to get a crawl.

While it will be indexed, I bet 100% that it wont rank or appear for a lot of stuff you want it to.. I think this takes longer to index. ( while the engine evaluates the site deeper. )

Yeah, a lot of things can get you crawled in a day to two but sometimes you need an instant index.

As you say, being indexed is very different to ranking. You won't rank for anything with this method it's just about getting indexed immediately.

It's not the site that is being indexed, it's just that google is aware of the new domain. There won't be anything in the cache and Google won't have visited and of the pages.

If you have a wordpress site you don't even need to add your site to WMT (which is better for your privacy anyway).
