What has happened here is that there is a domain called "gb.com". Do not confuse this with a top level domain (such as .com or .not), gb.com is just like google.com or yahoo.com or whatever.
Subdomains under this domain were marketed by a company called CentralNIC. One of the original founders of CentralNIC has been in dispute over who owns that domain. So far he does, and he's asserted his control over the domain in such a way that all the existing subdomains stopped working.
Luckily few people actually use gb.com subdomains for any serious purpose so the damage here is really quite minimal. Anyone wanting to continue using their .gb.com subdomain will need to register with the company now in control.
The .gb.com namespace mostly seems to be a sewer for cybersquatters, SEO peddlers and other such internet lowlifes, so I can't say I'm especially bothered. Certainly none of my customers are affected by this.
