I used Bamboo invoice for a long time, but slowly needed more features which it didn't offer.

I now use Kashflow, which is paid but it's an accounts and invoice system in one.

I work at the online accounting firm E-conomic and we've recently launched this online invoice software called Debitoor which allows you to create an unlimited number of invoices and credit notes for free.

So if you're just looking for an invoicing tool - and not a complete accounting system - you might want to check out this one as well.

I'd be happy to hear your feedback, if you decide to give it a shot.

I know you've asked for free invoicing software but I hope you don't mind me saying it can be worthwhile spending a small amount getting some good software to maintain your accounting records which includes invoicing. That's not a bias opinion by the way I don't sell accounting software

Sometimes (often in my experience) the time saving you will gain by using a complete package will more than outweigh the small cost.

You'll find a huge number of good accounting packages which include invoicing, lots of my firms clients use Accounts Portal.

Its best to look at various shareware as different packages offer different formats and this is probably for a reason. If you have a few customers and a few products you'll probably be looking for a different software package than if selling to Joe public one off sales.

I used to use invoiceit which was particlarly good for setting up individual customer pricing and applying those every time you raised an invoice against that customer. I moved to SAGE at the accountants request and now all customers are on the same price and the only variation is to set individual discounts which show on the invoice as discounts.

So spend some time to see what fits your needs. You'd probably get better quality responses if you actually detailed what you need a package to do rather than just be free.

You will be able to track your time by client / project / task & bill directly from your time sheets.

Just had a really quick look at that and see its priced in US $ does it handle UK VAT when required?

Seems very expensive when you compare it to the price of a good UK complete accounting package which includes billing.

Free resources end up missing important features usually. If you can invest some quids I would recommend Google apps or PAYMO.
