Food delivery - car insurance

Hello! I just managed to open my first business back in January, a small sushi takeaway restaurant. It would be a good help for the business if we could offer deliveries. I would like to do the deliveries my self or my partner, but the few quotes we had to insure our car (1.4 ltr) for food deliveries are really expensive.

Deliveroo, uber eats and similar doesn't seems to be an alternative, as we live in a small town (around 28.000 inhabitants) and this are not available.

Anyone here got an idea of what could be the cost to insure my car for food deliveries? I don't know where else to look for quotes that are not really expensive.

Thanks,

Ernie.

Every motor insurance quote is bespoke... It depends on the car (exact make, model, age value etc.) the driver (experience, driving record etc), what it's to be used for... It's quite a complex thing. No-one other than an insurance broker sitting in front of a computer can possibly answer your question. - And that won't happen via an internet forum!

Thanks Caledoian TV for your answer.

I wasn't expecting a straight quote on here, as you said is many factors to take into account, but maybe someone have been on my position before and managed a way to find a more affordable insurance. May I not looking at the right places?

Sometimes Trade Unions and associations have special arrangements/discounts for various insurances; but otherwise it's all much of a muchness... Your main issue is that you're delivering 'goods', which is a whole different world of pain from simple 'class 1' business cover.

Might be better to hire someone on a self-employed owner driver on a free lance basis. A competitor restaraunt might even lend u one of thier drivers, yes really:eek:

Drivers are easy to speak to 'off peak' as they are usuallly hanging around the restaurant

Another option is coming to an arrangement with a local taxi driver.

This would mean u can focus on your core business.

Ref small town

That gives u the opportunity to utterly dominate! IF YOU HAVE A #1 PLAN and provide a great service of the kind your 28,000 potential customers might want.

Keep an eye on tv, cinema, sport schedules etc .... dead days and rush days have a root cause!

Be flexible

Don't be scared to offer milk, mars bars and fruit bowls etc ... add some walk by items to your drinks cabinete/chilled ( don't sting them on price) the walk by stuff is your loss leader ... it will have every local within 500 yards poping in for odd essentials once they have walked thru the door once then that removes dozen first time barriers for ever

Ps STAND OUTSIDE YOUR SHOP ... now look at it if you had never seen it before!

Number of take away shop fronts battling for first prize in high street stealth .... beyond my comprehension o_O

There are many things to consider for an insurance policy to take effect like the year, make and model of the car, the mileage, if it has been in an accident or reconstructed. They will also look into the driver assigned to the vehicle if he has incurred violations/tickets or accidents (driving history), their age and gender. Of course, they're also going to factor in your case where the vehicle to be insured carries perishable goods. You can try asking from restaurants that offer deliveries for you to get an idea where they get insurance for their vehicles.
