hmmm.. would be interesting to find out. I suspect not, and the best solution is to train staff to not dial bloody mobiles.

I use voipfone and they sell addon mobile calling minutes - but the rate isn't great to be honest, unless you buy a HUGE amount of minutes.

'This is to turn a landline to mobile call into a mobile to mobile call' is it?

A Cellular Terminal is a desk phone (actually, any handset..), using a mobile connection.

A GSM gateway connect 'x' to the mobile network e.g. a PBX!

What do you wan to do?

Replace a desk phone or connect to a PBX.

You have to be careful, as some networks might not like you using their networks for a particular application - I was stopped using an O2 sim for sending texts to to clients, as they referred me to an obscure condition. I have also seen a network stop an account under the grounds the hardware was not approved (calls were going through a gateway).

    Hi Gary

As per my previous email, happy to discuss this further.

As 'consultant' points out, you do need to be a bit careful.

Although GSM Gateways are perfectly lawful under both UK and EU law if used for businesses own use on businesses own premises with bill paid by business (it is NOT legal in the UK to 'rebill' calls), most networks have Ts and Cs which can be used to switch off sims if they so wish.

In my experience, for smaller scale use, many networks simply let this type of usage occur 'below the radar' so as to speak.

However, the notable exception to this is T-Mobile, who for many years have had a totally antagonistic attitude towards these devices.

More recently, I have noticed (as I see has 'consultant') that O2 are cracking down particularly on text messaging (some GSM Gateways are able to send texts).

(All networks are perfectly capable of 'discovering' these devices if they so wish, as a mobile call not only sends the CLI but also the IMEI of the device).

    Best Regards,

    Simon

I worked in Comms for several years prior to branching out into other fields. There are many devices like this on the market. They are known by several names; GSM Gateway, Premicell, fixed-mobile gateway.

Many can be connected to PBX's (office telephone systems) and some will even hold several SIM cards - in the early days (when cross network minutes were still expensive) it was quite normal to have one for each mobile network. Then there are the smaller devices which you can connect to a phone system or just a normal phone

If you want to know if they work, they sure do. Many of my former clients have used them and there are many on the market, just Google Premicell

I am a mobile and landline supplier and supplied many sims for gateways, yet the network do keep an eye out for this and as another user states most of the times the Imei are logged per call. due to unlimited now or whats classed as unlimited, hitting more 3000 mins or texts per month, as per unlimited rules you may get notified via the network, but I can look into this more if needed for you

    Regards
