I have a good web based business idea and need just under 6k to get set up.
When I was younger I ended up with bad credit so I dont think i will just be able to walk into the bank and get a start up loan,Anyone got any ideas of how i can get the money,I know about business angels but i dont want to go down that route,

You don't want to go down the business angel route because, presumably, you do not need any help or special experience and you don't want to give away a %age of your profits. You can't get a loan due to credit rating.

I can only think of friends & family (yours not mine) and perhaps some special business start up trusts.

Have you considered some form of partnership? As previously suggested the best route might be via family and friends.

You can also try submitting a business plan to competitions, HSBC had one recently and the prize was for £20,000. Your local business link might have some grants and based on your area they can offer to pay 70% of your website fee etc.

I know it sounds obvious but have you checked your credit file?

I too was a little silly with money with I was younger, 21ish now 34!

Anyway although i paid all of my outstanding debts off a long time ago there is no record of it on my file anymore..

I aint poor, I just decided to do debt managment 5 years ago so i cant get any finance for another 2 years,I dont worry about it.
