Can anyone tell me how to filter the 'keyword' results in google analytics to remove google shopping results? I want to see what keywords I'm ranking well on in the organic results and getting clicks on. Whenever I find a short tail keyword in analytics, I get excited then search and it's just the google shopping insert people are clicking.

Not sure what you mean? Do you mean the PPC campaign or google product search.

If it is the former you just click on the segments button (top right, just above the date range and chose organic only)

If it is google product search then you will need to apply an advanced filter so that you can pull out the google /products? referral from the google /search? results. I still can't post links, and it would take too long to write it all out.

Please do a search on google / support / analytics / for setting up advanced filters.

Alternatively you could create campaign auto tagging via google base (how you get your products into google products)

Do a search on the above same support / analytics / page for "How do I tag my links?"

For further advice. But those are your two options if you are talking about Google Product search.

Yeah I mean google shopping. Google seem to count the google shopping inserts (among the organics) in the 'keywords' part of GA. I guess I just need to learn the ropes regarding GA. I'll look into the tagging in google base as that'll be handy for my other stats programs too. :)

One caveat of doing that is that you could run into duplicate content issues. In that if anyone posts a link from Google shopping (say I like your product and post it on a forum) then Google could see that as duplicate content.

In my experience though Google ignores the second (older duplicate content) so it could be the case that it hasn't indexed the normal page without auto tag and so sees the google products link as the original and the organic as the duplicate.

My advice would be to look into doing the filter first, its the safest option.
