That's about the same as us...as in about 5% of people tend to leave feedback.

We have considered enclosing small notes in with our orders requesting that feedback is left but to be honest, I think that it's a far cry from ebay and the customers are not that bothered about doing so.

People don't care about you or your feedback. You have delivered the item they wanted so as far as the customer is concerned the transaction is complete. I brought a print server from Amazon the other day, unpacked the box and chucked the paper in the recycling. I can't even remember who I brought it from so there is no way I'd ever be able to write any feedback.

What is the difference between Trader and Seller Central.
Trader is the most basic form of seller - anyone can sign up; no monthly fee, 17.25%/sale fee

Pro Merchant is an upgrade you can request, £25/month fee and 15%/sale fee

Seller Central is next - I think you have to be invited by Amazon. Same fee structure as Pro-Merchant, bu you can display a logo and list your own products (provided they have a bar code).

You get some abilities to upload product/shipping files and down load orders with Seller Central - I can't remember if this applies to Pro-Merchant.

Oh right thanks. No it does not, I demanded such facilities of Amazon pointing out they are very expensive and as such should have all facilities, but they did not oblige

1 in every 20 sales is about right in Amazon, unlike eBay where people are more used to deal with feedback and eBay does make a big deal out of it. I personally think both marketplaces are doing a very bad job when they both make buyers feel they have control of who can stay and who has to leave the marketplace and no seller can do the same about who is so abusive as a buyer or put false claims of no-item received.
But unlike eBay which can give you a few warning when feedback is low, Amazon will most likely shut down your account keeping the money for more than 3 months no questions or chances to appeal at all!! It does matter to get feedback in Amazon, if you get few feedbacks, and 2 guys decide to get you because they didnt like the product or you took more than 2 hours to deliver, you can say good bye to your account and a see in in months to your money. There is a very good software made to ask people to leave you feedback, it was called feedback forager ( search it in google ) perhaps it works with UK, I'm not sure but you can ask and maybe that can bring your feedback rating up. I hope this helps!

I buy lots of Amazon but never left feedback cause I dont know how too. I went in a few weeks ago and searched to do it but all I could find was the part that asked me to review products - so I gave up as it wasnt obvious ot me where to do this. If anyone is putting in a leaflet perhaps put insturctions as to how to do it. It would be nice if Amazon emailed buyers like Ebay to prompt them to leave it but perhaps this may be your reason for others not leaving it.

OK...here is how you do it....

To leave feedback:

1. Go to http://www.amazon.co.uk/feedback
2. Sign in
3. You'll then see a list of all of the orders that need feedback. Find the relevant order in the list and click the "Leave seller feedback" button on the right

I hope that helps :)

Yet another reason why i can't be bothered with Amazon. All the constant nagging/spam to look at this, that, the other, then the prompts for feedback.

And why should the customer be required to provide positive feedback simply becuse the merchant did their job as agreed? What's that all about?

Customers are more likely to comment on exceptional service, where they feel someone has made a special effort over and above.

Bought an item at Xmas at my daughters request. Even unsubscribing to all the crap they send makes little difference. Never again.

So, bought an item online (not via amazon) last night at Friday 5-15pm.
Postie delivered it this morning at 9-30 am, and a Saturday to boot.
Now, they will be getting feedback.

.......And why should the customer be required to provide positive feedback simply becuse the merchant did their job as agreed? .....

Nobody is "required" to leave feedback, it's buyer choice hence the relatively low percentage of buyers that choose to.....and that's fine. As it happens I stand in the "don't hassle" camp as we take the view that if a customer chooses to leave feedback then that's their choice and much appreciated but if they don't then, as you say, we have done what we have been paid to do...and we are selling products, not feedback, at the end of the day.

But, I hardly think its a reason not to buy via Amazon....I think you need to consider who you are buying from and make the buying decision based on that (and if you actually want the product of course!).

My use of 'required' was possibly wrong.

I find the whole Amazon thing a pain, a world away from when it was simply a book store.
Each to his/her own regarding buying processes. I have no issue with the individual retailers, it's simply the Amazon process is now, for me, a negative. Feedback being one aspect of that.

I get just over 10% of customers leaving feedback on Amazon and though I have seen Amazon suspend or block sellers with under 90% positive feedback (unusually based on last 30 days only) a number of my competitors have recently dropped below and are still there. Also to correct someone saying the fees are 15% or 17% this varies according to category and ranges from 7% in electronics to 25% in jewellery exc VAT if your not registered.

I think feedback has less importance on amazon since they stand between the customer and the seller with their a-z guarantee.

I buy plenty from amazon marketplace sellers and never leave feedback and have turned the nag emails off. I expect on amazon to just get the goods from the seller and pronto in time etc.

Now on ebay - do I trust them etc etc.
