This is the problem with some franchised couriers. As I'm sure APC will confirm (although he may not be aware as APC have their house in order).

But, it doesnt matter how good your local depot is, its the HUB or the end depot that your relying on. And if their not up to scratch it puts a blot on the whole experience.

MPG thanks for your kind comments about the APC network. You are quite right though this does not just apply to franchises all parcel networks can have problems, we are only as good as our weakest link. Communication and quality of service is the key to success of any network. We aim to inform our customers of any problems before their clients inform them.

I know where your coming from Pulsey. i also hear that insolvency laws were not followed correctly and therefore if you look up on the fastway website, they have listed Central Scotland as a new Regional Franchise for sale. Go figure. Central Scotland has, that i know of, failed twice, yet they try and resell it for there next mug that comes along. I can see that this is proof that they are untrustworthy company.

Just check out the london-gazette and look for A.K.L LOGISTICS Limited T/A Fastway Couriers

Not a regular user of this franchise and I intend not to be. Was supposed to have a large parcel picked up monday, didnt get collected till the day after by parcelforce, its then sent to another fastway depot in liverpool where no one knows where its meant to go (althought they go by another name, "deliver it" haha). Its correct destination is only one street away and im told it will take another 24hrs to get there! its 7 mins by car! ffs.

This item needs to be back to my address by that day as I have appiontments to keep which it look like im going to fail on, which will cost me money and my business its reputation. Fastway way dont care.

Ill only be bitten once and ill never use fastway again, I urge anyone who is thinking of using this slow, unorganised, uncaring, mismanaged franchise a wide birth and use someone else. Even if it means an extra 80p per parcel itsmoney worth spent to protect the reputation of your business.

As an inclusion id like to say that after shouting at them on the phone they have delivered the item today BROKEN!! this will now put my business back several days waiting for a replacement part which will cost me money and probably throw everything up in the air, and from what I can gather from the numerous other complaints on here I doubt ill ever get the money back out of Fastway

fastway is a term we use very loosely!

I have been using Fastway (Portsmouth) for a while, yet when the franchisee ceased training (no notice given) another popped-up and did a few collections for me.

I called them today but they, too, have walked away from Fastway.

I did call the Fastway head office and spoke to someone called Christian to be told that they are unlikelyto recruit another franchisee in this area and that, therefore, my satchels and vouchers are worthless!

I would strongly urge anyone even considering using this organisation to reconsider and go main-stream.

The sooner this organisation folds completely the better, in my opinion.

Fastway is, in my opinion, a fastway to lose money!

Fastway Nottingham / Derby branch has ceased trading and closed overnight on Thursday 2/09/10 several items including computers and parcels are also missing, Police are investigating.
When a Franchise does a midnight flit and the Head office say that you can only claim from the Franchise directly. Surely this is not correct as the Head office should have some responsibilty for what has happened ?

I am now dealing with this firm They guarantee next day and bill me after the parcel has been delivered so I cant loose. I book a collection each morning first thing and as long as I have a collection booked I can add consignments during the day until the driver calls. Once he arrives I print my days manifest and he signs for all the parcels. Everything is done online, manifest, booking etc. One day last week I had no parcels yet the van driver still called to check.. Until my account was opened they even sent a van from Doncaster to Selby to collect my parcels without any payment. Obviously a firm that puts service even before money. They get my vote every time.

If anyone is considering using fast-ways Couriers I suggest you make sure you have lots of money to lose! they are the worst Courier Service I have ever encountered. I'm not in a position to go into it right now but be back on line shortly.

I do believe the end is near for Farceways, the head office went bust recently and several depots followed suit. However The remaining Rf's have taken over the national franchise and are now running the show. Most of these people can't run their own depots properly so I very much doubt they can keep the ship afloat.
There's only 12 Depots running now, with not much chance of the old ones re-opening due to the damage caused with old customers, so most existing depot's parcels are getting onforwarded, which means the RF's are'nt makin as much and the CF's are making hardly anything.
A few franchisee's who I have spoken to recently tell me, a majority of their remaining customers are spending as little as possible with them because of the uncertainty surrounding them.
I generally feel sorry for these courier franchisee's who have spent a lot of money, time and hard work providing this service which has been torn apart by the money grabbing con men higher up !!!:|

But they really can't say that they weren't warned if they had done their homework properly - Fastway in the UK has been scraping the bottom of the barrel for the past 7 or 8 years, if not longer.

It was a bit like Amway really - OK for those at the top.;)

What ever you do don't use fastways for your parcel service. Everytime I've sent something a week later I have to chase it up with getting every excuse you can think of. The annoying thing is you have to prepay so I'm trying to get my money back at the moment. Spend a little bit more on a reliable courier you wont regret it.

If you are considering using a bargain basement so-called "courier" service have a look at this link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0MgdNlIswM

and make your own mind up ;)

Theres also quite a few discussions around about self employed drivers for the bigger companies. I read DHL pay an average of 65p per parcel whereas MyHermes pay 50p/parcel. I've never seen a DHL courier driver driving anything less than a van whereas most MyHermes drivers are in cars which would cost less to run..

So are the MyHermes drivers really making any less money than other couriers? If not, why don't we boycott all couriers?

The MyHermes driver that collects my parcels seems to be doing okay -- he's talking about buying a larger car for his round.

Plus... if they are willing to work for that amount of money, their service is reasonable and prices excellent I don't see why people shouldn't use them. I've always found them to be excellent -- even when phoning their customer service, never had to wait for than 5 minutes in a queue -- can't say that about any other courier.

They probably do earn less than NMW, but since many business owners around here don't agree it helps anything I don't think that will be a problem :D

Well the "DHL" driver who delivers to us has ladders on top of his astravan which is sign written up "******window cleaning".

One time I received a DHL "carded while you were out" card 3 days late by 2nd class post. At an office address manned from 06:00 to 20:00 continuously.

Pay peanuts - get monkeys comes to mind

Hi, we should have read the blogs! - we paid upfront and now they don't answer the phone, have vanished with our cash and we don't have a courier service!

Would advise pay a few pennies more for something reliable:mad::mad:

Hi Sally, have a quick look at our website then give me a ring for a chat. I will give you a few tips about getting the best from whichever parcel carrier you choose - absolutely NO obligation :)

Occasionally Fastway are good, but only if they answer the phone when you want to order a collection. You buy tickets in advance, but when the lack of service annoys you so much, you ask for your money back, you find it is non refundable. Today, I have rung a few times, texted a few times, the second last time I rang, they were still so busy they wanted me to call back, 2 minutes later I rang and the answerphone message changed to we are now closed, our hours are from....

******* DO NOT DEAL WITH FASTWAY COURIERS! *******

we used them for 2 years with no problems,
then we had an occurance where we sent 2 items to the same address, and BOTH items arrived damaged,
Phoned to ask about a claim, and getting a replacement sent out/broken ones brought back, to hear what can only be described as absolutely ................... shocking shall i say.

You cant claim
You have to pay £20 to fetch the broken ones back EACH (£40)
You have to pay again to send replacements!

To which i was not too pleased, spoke to the head man who basically said the same!
I got very annoyed, swore at him, he agreed to fetch them back, refund my remaining tickets, but nothing could/would be done about the 2 lots of damage!
2 1/2 months later, the packages have still not arrived, and has now said he will not refund the tickets!
So i have had to advertise them on ebay, which i feel a bit bad about, because it means subjecting someone else to the appalling service that is fastways!

*******ANYONE THINKING OF USING FASTWAYS - DONT!!!********
LOOK AROUND! WE HAVE NOW FOUND UPS TO BE EVEN CHEAPER, MORE RELIABLE & 24Hr INSTEAD OF 48HR

I own businesses' in Manchester, Liverpool and Preston and have used Fastway Couriers to send my parcels both locally and throughout the UK mainland for over 3 years.
I have read some reviews criticising Fastway but I can honestly say I have nothing but excellent things to say about the services they offer.

Between my 3 branches I send out on average 40 parcels a day. The local courier calls at a set time everyday and the majority of the parcels are delivered next day.
I have saved 000's of pounds on delivery costs by using Fastway Couriers. I can send parcels out upto 25kg to anywhere in the North West England for £2.95. No other firm can beat that(I've checked).
I can send out to many parts of the Uk mainland from as little as £5.95.
The best bit about using Fastway is that I can work out my freight costs in advance and I don't have to worry about any hidden surcharges ie fuel increases etc. I buy books of labels (just like buying books of stamps) and simply stick them on the parcel and ring the courier to pick up.

How easy and simple is that!!!

I have tried other courier company's before but fastway are by far the best I have used. Don't get me wrong I have had parcels go missing or have not been delivered on time but they are the exception rather than the rule. Compared to Parcelforce and others Fastway offer excellent value.
If you are sending out a few parcels a week I recommend you contact Fastway Couriers -their prices are really good

You seem to have left out your company name.

It would not be Fastway by any chance.?

Bit of a advertisement that is you on commission?

Fastway Ripped us off few years ago and I would tell anyone to be very careful with them. We have offices in Edinburgh and Manchester.
Alot of the fastway franchises have messed up and gone bust.
We bought stickers in advance and were told that there would be 2 collections a day in our area but that was a bloody lie. If we wanted pick up they would come the next day after ask them! What a load of crap. and their tracking is rubbish. We use UPS & DHL and I would gladly pay double the price of Fastway for the high service UPS & DHL give you.
