What exactly is your question?

It's just 1 of the 20 million spammy directories (albeit niche) built on a free widely available directory script (like most). They clearly sell links but I doubt it makes much money at all.

Simply put, there are a few UK directories and I want to produce the best one, so I am trying to see behind the presentation at what their sites actually produce and how they get it done.

I still don't understand.

Just create a niche directory (either develop one yourself or use one of the many scripts that you can get for free or purchase). Design a skin for it and make it look great. Create some features that would potential members in your niche would consider an incentive and worth joining to utilise. Then market it to your intended audience.

I don't get why you're looking at a really poor and spammy directory that was knocked up in about 30 minutes to gain insight into coming up with a better one...? Surely there's far more better, useful and working examples to learn from?

It's a pile of junk like most directory websites.

It's spammy, it's unethical, it was set up by someone stuck in 90's SEO.

It's only purpose is to sell trashy links and obtain a load of emails to spam with link building and 'high PR' garbage services from people that still think a directory such as this one would benefit their business still.

If that's what you thought too, then no, you haven't missed anything.
