I suppose you have to pay more for the convenience of not having to go out and find customers.

If your prepared to go out and look fo rthem then you will earn more - but will it cost you more in finding them?

Maybe get some flyers made up to your past customers get your pallets on a website and offer a 10% discount - see if you can get them bidding directly from you?

Hi there we currently sell on ebay with a shop you are right it is very expensive with fees and very time consuming answering pointless questions when what you have found that the customer doesnt bother to read the listing and asks whats already there arrgh we however have found a better way to get our customers to return and purchase from us again with a lot less time and money involved ebid is very cheap but ask yourself why? it has no traffic my freind has sold 3 things in a year but on ebay he sold over 10000 items you simply have to have your own website and just use ebay as the hook everything you sell, send, package has your website address on it when you speak to a customer tell them to go to your website put a discount postcard of say 10 per cent in the box with there order if they come back to your site i could go on and on but honestly it works hope this helps give you some ideas.

You could set up your own store using a hosted solution such as Shopify (www.shopify.com) or Volusion (www.volusion.co.uk) - there are others so shop around to find the right one for your requirements.

If you have an existing customer base then it should be fairly easy to direct them to your own site using flyers, email etc.

After that, I'm afraid you're in for some hard work to attract new visitors to your site - as tony84 said, you're paying for the convenience of not having to go out and find customers :)

as above the 17% to amazon is a commission for them selling your stuff. it might be high but you've got 8 flippin tonnes of the stuff to shift.

is that 8 or 16 pallets?

are you selling it in pallet loads or per individual unit?

was thinking more of sites other than eBay, have you head of eBid? are they any good?

Ebid has much lower fees but also much lower traffic.

Still worth a punt though in my opionion, bought a lifetime subscription and can run five shops and list as much as I like for nothing.

Don't list a great deal on there and get one or two reasonably high value sales a month.

Other sellers seem to do very well on there and have ditched ebay completely.

Hi,
Do you have a stocklist you can send over, we have been looking to clearance stock for some time so can try to sell some of it for you - let us know if interested?

Hi Kelly,
This lot is lovely furniture from MFI, Next, Littlewoods and Argos, they have bits missing, like pack 1 from 3 etc, but absolutely perfect for someone with the time to make up the parts, there is solid wood tables, leather recliner sofas, wardrobes, display cabinets, single wood beds, headboards and footends. Where are you based?

Yes so very true ! we have actually cut our desciptions by half as people dont bother reading anyway ! they would rather type out a message and send that rather than reading the text. Never mind. I have tried eBid and fell for the lifetime offer of paying 49 quid for membership but didnt sell a bloody thing ! I read through their forums and they do have the sellers but not the traffic, the biggest gripe was people asking why they dont advertise their service. Why they dont is beyond me, they offer a good service but just dont get the traffic to attract buyers. Yes we did get our own site running, I just need to keep it updated !
Thanks for your time, I do appreciate knowing there are others out there feeling the same strain we are.
Thanks
Suzy

Hi around 8 tonnes, we also just received a 40 foot container today full of furniture from a london shop. Lovely gear! We will be wholesaling some and individually sell others. Just a case of getting through it all.

Interested ?
