EMS - Facebook Advertising?

Anyone heard of EMS?

Just had a phone call from these guys (2nd in 2 days), boy are they pushey. They are trying to get you to advertise on FB. I think they are based in the Manchester area.

Today, even though I kept saying I wasn't interested he wouldn't take no for an answer, I eventually went into repeat mode and kept saying "not interested" repeatedly, he eventually put the phone down.

Yesterday he threatened to smear our website name and put bad reports about us over the internet.

Not someone I want to deal with.

yes I have had phone calls from these people over the past few days.

They did exactly the same to me was very pushy and when I said no was not for me due to be a small business and only targeting about a 50mile radius of where our office is no point they started saying about my website and how they could damage the reputation.

I told him in so many non polite ways to do one.

Well,
He had a four page website designed by them, which took them 4 1/2 months to do, they also then kept adding things without his consent and adding on the additional charges, they were impossible to talk to and have a £100 leaving fee.

haha...

Had 3 calls in 2 days.

The first 2 were informed of my registration with the TPS and that their cold calling was illegal and I wasnt interested in their scams. When they didnt respond I told them to get a proper job, stop scamming people and f-off.

The last call I spent 5 mins winding the chap up, also informed him the call was illegal, he said the FSB gave him my number (rubbish) and didnt care that he was meant to check numbers before calling them.

Hi All,

This thread has been brought to my attention by a post mentioning ems-internet.co.uk and relating us to a company called "EMS" trying to sell FB packages.

I can assure you all that EMS Internet LTD are not marketing FB packages at the moment.

If anyone has any further details regarding the company "EMS" I would be most grateful if you can provided me with any information to enable us to investigate these claims further as this could be damaging to our reputation.

Kind Regards

Hi Sarah,

If you are not the company that tried to sell to us then I sincerely hope you find out who is pretending to be you. I know it can damage a company as we have had similar done to us in the past (although we managed to catch it quickly).

All I can say is the guy called himself Chris. When I pressed him for a company name he said he was from EMS and he had a Manchester accent.

Thank you for the information Steve, it is much appreciated.

If we were selling such a package it would be listed on our website, we will continue to investigate this though, as you have quite rightly said, it could be very damaging towards our reputation as a business.

Many thanks again for bringing this to our attention.

Kind Regards

Sarah

So you are not the same EMS that has been cold calling across the country selling "free" website packages, the one I was offered was being build on the very latest technology and software....Drupal

Strange because your website looks an awful like some of the stuff the salesmuppets tried to con me into having

I just thought I would go back over my emails.

Just wanted to see if this is a mix-up as I been getting calls from EBS Marketing - Enigma Business Solutions operated by PNP Media Limited.

They report to have a nice client base on the website: Vauxhall, Toni&Guy

It was reported that my details were given by the FSB - yes the online directory they was not given to you!!!

Hi Smo,
Thank you for your response, I couldn't possibly comment on individual calls without further investigation. We do record some of our calls sporadically for training and monitoring purposes, if you would like me to investigate the call you have received please provide me with the time, date and the number we contacted you on and I would be more than happy to investigate this further.

Kind Regards

he said the FSB gave him my number (rubbish) and didnt care that he was meant to check numbers before calling them.

Actually I hear that a lot!

Business Networking groups, FSB, Chambers, Business clubs, and others sometimes lead people to believe that they have access to their members directory for sales and marketing purposes as part of the benefit of their membership.

Some of these are more forthright in their view that this is perfectly acceptable in their quest to grow member numbers.

Members are completely unaware that the rules regarding unsolicited phone calls and email marketing do not go away just because they are a member unless the members themselves have expressly given permission to be called or emailed.

I suggest you put your complaint in writing to the FSB so they can make their own enquiries and take appropriate action and also actually register your TPS complaint with a formal complaint lodged here

^If you are a business then you need to register your number with CTPS aswell as the TPS is for consumers so people can legitimately call you as a business if you are not on the CTPS.

... But that won't help you with FSB people = you really do need to put it in writing to them and also register the complaint formally if you want it to be taken seriously. Should only take a couple of minutes and making an effort to do this really helps telemarketing industry

:)

Why do you consider it to be FSB's fault that someone used their online directory for cold calling?

Did you ask them to remove your details from their directory and they didn't?

Cause I was not aware that there was an online list to begin with should have been made aware so I could have been given the option to opt out.

I have sent an email to member services requesting I am removed now.

Just because you are in a directory it doesn't give permission to be cold called or emailed unless you have given that permission by agreeing under terms of membership. You shouldn't have to be removed from the directory if you don't want to just to avoid cold calls.

Do you know if your even in the FSB Directory?

Do you really believe it when a cold caller tells you where he obtained your number from?

I have cold callers ring my honeypot listings all the time and they quite often say they got my number from the FSB directory, when I know damned well they are just going through my directory getting numbers.

From my experience the CTPS doesn't do much and if you have your contact details on your site (as you should) then all the cold callers do is pick it off your site.

I have started a new tact this afternoon and it worked great.

We have a telephone system which can record telephone conversations, but we have never used it and we don't have it turned on. However it can be switched on as needed.

We had someone call us trying to sell advertising in a free leaflet, so after they had done their initial intro I said we may be interested, however I need to turn on our conversation recording system so that we have a complete record of the conversation in case there is an issue in the future. As soon as I said "you don't mind do you?" they hung up. Fantastic.

The thing is i'm not a member of the FSB so shouldnt be on any of their lists!

I highly doubt they gave the list to this cold calling scammer, who it does seem are the very same people as the lady who posted earlier. Bloody conmen.

They just go through various online directories (the FSB one and mine included) finding telephone numbers for cold calling.

I used to set up honeypot listing which displayed on a recent listings page. I once had 4 calls fron 4 different companies within 30 minutes of adding a new listing

Hello guys, today I have read a post on a FB foreigner group (I'm not British). A woman groupmate wrote that this guy/company is taking young immigrants who are looking for any type of jobs (because they haven't got, obviously). This company "plays" with the desesperation of this segment of people and his job is calling another companies in and out UK offering products that never exist it (Adwords, Gogole Places, Facebook Advertising, etc.). He often don't pay this young people even.

This is an absolutelly scam, and I don't understand how is allowed by english laws. The base is in Manchester she wrote. I have read several posts on Internet about Spanish and Portuguese people who have been scammed for this EMS and other company names (because it seems that they are changing the name) based in UK.

Sorry for my English. I'm trying to improve.
