Email signature

Right, I have been trying this for a few months now and just cannot seem to grasp it (there's no surprise there I hear you say!) I need to create an email signature, please can someone quote me, something simple like our logo and a link to our website to be incorporated into Windows mail - I will supply artwork of course. Thanks guys :D

careful when you do this, as if you use a complex layout that requires slices to be done and inserted in a table, this will work fine when you send it, but the formatting will be erased when/if you forward the message on. Or at least that is my experience anyhow.

not really, what i am saying is that if you used a tabled layout (i dont think css works in email sigs) - it will work fine when you send out to person a, but if person a forwards it, then the formating will be lost.

If you work around that by using a design that does not rely on tabled formatting it should be fine, so if you have your company logo followed by your info, it should be ok.

the problem arises from the fact that when you format your email to send out - it is formatted in HTML, so the images you use display correctly, but if the email is forwarded, the images simply become attachments, and display at the foot of the email with no formatting. Or at least that is my experience. I personally stick to a text signature so absolutely no problems.

i have done something similar in windows outlook - logo and info which works ok, even when forwarded. I work primarily on Macs, so I would not really know where to begin using windows mail.

i would imagine that if you can create your simple signature as a page of HTML, you must have an option to 'save as stationary' which is what i have done previously on windows/outlook express, and then you simply type your message above.

sorry - what i mean by tabled is where you have split the page into rows and columns, so say you want three graphics placed side by side, this would be lost if the email was forwarded on, the graphics would stay, but the table (used to position the graphics) would dissapear.

if you just want a graphic logo, with a link below, this should be easily done using the stationary composer - unfortunately, my knowledge of windows is limited and I dont even know what windows mail is, best off trying google - 'compose signature windows mail' or similar

hi again, i dont have access to the programme you are using, so can only help you to a limited extent - at which point is it not working, and what is happening.

ie. does it look correct when you create the signature, but the problem is the sig does not show up when you create a new email - perhaps there is an option to say - use this signature in outgoing mail ?

you might have to specify that your outgoing emails need to bt HTML format rather than plain text, but i think you might have more luck looking on google for a tutorial - i know thats what i do when things do not work and it pretty much sorts the problem 100 percent

Windows Mail is the Vista version of Outlook Express, and apparantly signature set up is similar.
Tutorial, (follow the screenshot guide), on signatures.
Tutorial on putting images into sigs

Do you have Office 2003/2007? That has the grown up version; Outlook, which is worth using if you have it.

If you can't do a sig. (with image) in Outlook don't even think of Thunderbird or gmail....
Oh Dawg you do love confusing Fuzzy!, First my Photoshop problem and now this :(
