Email Address Error - Help

We installed a new automated Email reminder for new clients who sign up to our website.

Unfortunetly there was an error in the programing and the generic Email was sent with about 100 other clients Email addresses in it.

Obviously this is now been fixed.

Are we liable and what should we do as someone has made a complaint and wants compensation?

We are just a small business and quickly correct the mistake after it was found.

Any help would really help. Thank you

Compensation for what exactly? To get compensation they'd have to show a loss.

I agree, I want to reply, be honest and apologise but I feel then I am admitting liability and it opens the flood gates.

Only reply if they bring the subject up. No point in making a big deal out of it if most of them have already trashed the email.
