Who here has an eBay shop, and how do you advertise?

Im selling products such as socks,underwear,nightwear,thermal wear etc etc. I would post the full link, but I cant, therefore, type in ikpal into the WWW portal and the website name ends in co.uk

Ive set this link to re-direct onto my store wih is on eBay.

Never been much of an ebay fan. Do people really pay 99 pence for socks and £10 p+p. If you ask me its all madness.
Any way what i do know about ebay is that classified adds are free. So you need to invent some kind of service that can run along side you shop and add links to your shop in the add. at least i think thats how it works.

kl. well, i respect your opinion. But from my view, its well worth it. If you notice, its 99pence for 12 pairs of socks and then its 10 pounds P+P, from my view, this is much cheaper than what you can get at retail outlets on the high st.

I will give your advice a go on the classified ads, and this may sound a bit cheeky, but what kind of service can I provide online through eBay? I am offering the first 100 customers a gift alongside with their purchase.

Is there anything else I can do?

I wasn`t knocking what you are doing i understand about the 12 pair of sock for 99p I just dont know why it cant be 12 pairs of the best quality socks for a tenner with 99p postage. That would work better for me. Phycologicaly i would think i was being ripped off on the postage and it would put me off. where as the other way i would think i was getting a bargain on the socks and an excellent delivery service.

Not sure what you can say in the classified ad. You will need to start filling in the form and see whats what.

But the link does state "In such categories, while eBay will not prescribe exactly what a seller may or may not charge, eBay will consider member reports when determining whether or not a seller's postage, handling, packaging, and/or insurance charges are excessive."

Also, my aim is to provide people with items at the lest possible prices to meet their needs and help them during the current time. Also, with the P+P its the charge for the use of courier, handling and packaging of the goods which I think is fair enough?

Thats a great idea scoota. Don't know why I never thought of that Lol. But yeah, its a good idea for sure. With this way, I thought it would seem that the customer is receiving the item at onl 99p, and just paying the fees for the handling and packaging of the goods as well as the postage.

But good idea. Thanks. Ill be trying it later on.

Its strange but the cheap top line price, loaded up postage thing does seem to work on ebay...the great unwashed never cease to amaze me regarding lack of basic maths!

Only trouble with loading the p+p on ebay is you will automatically get punished with the postal feedback DSR, what mark out of 5 do you seriously think buyers will give you when charged £10, and the package comes to their door for £3?

They will murder your scores, and consequently you will lose visibility and sales in the long run.

We had an ebay shop, but moved on to our website, just a better market for us thats all. Keywords, keywords, keywords is the thing to remember :D

Most people ive seen with a Ebay shop list the same items a few times.. ie.

say the item is £10 total.

Socks - £3 + £7 postage
Socks - £7 + £3 postage
Socks - £5 + £5 Postage
Socks - £8 + £2 postage

as different prices and postage appeal to different people and it makes it seem sometimes like its different sellers.

also http://www.ikpal.co.uk/ i wouldnt say is such a great domain name for getting searches in google etc.. maybe have another forwarding domain aswell cheapsocks.co.uk or whatever.

I didn't say I was a know it all. Just correcting your point. Of course it's perfectly okay to get things wrong. If I'd called the police about it then you can complain...sheesh. I was just scanning threads and wanted to mention that. Next time I'll put loads of smilies all over it.

If ebay realise what is being done as above, same item but different prices, or more likely a competitor reporting it, you can list as many times as you want, but only one of the listings will show up in a search.

If a competitor reports you it will result in a drop in the search standings and results, and eventually to a suspension of your account, so the choice has to be weighed against the risks.

I have one, the best way I found was to actually pay ebay for a better listing
