eBay feedback

I'm rather peeved at the new system. When I was left neutral feedback in the past, it never affected my 100% feedback. But last week, someone bought a 10cm piece of chain and put neutral feedback because she thought 10cm was enough for necklace! I tried to get her to see sense to no avail, I no longer have 100% feedback because of an idiot who doesn't know how long 10cm is. ebay should have at least left sellers the option to leave neutral.
I only use ebay for advertising purposes so as your colleague said ''I'll move on''

It seems to me that the better solution for eBay would have been to have a separate report bad seller button (or bad buyer button) so that sellers or buyers who were trying to extort good feedback could get reported. eBays new system though puts all this control into the hands of buyers -- and, as the poster noted above, customers are not always right.

But, it is eBays system....

Personally, I feel this is not fair on sellers as JUST.b said, i was in the same situation just selling stuff on ebay personal stuff and the buyer came up with the idea that the item i posted had a prob and wanted half price refund which i refused but offered a % refund anyway went on hols came back and guess what.. she left me negative feedback and i couldn't leave one back. DONT THINK its fair on sellers at all as some buyers out there are not that genuine they want something for nothing

Got my first neg today, out of over 2000 transactions. It was really angry and irrational and out of the blue, basically because the item had taken 5 days to arrive (including weekend) even though there is no promised delivery time on the listing. There is absolutely no need for name calling on feedback either!

have you tried to contact them to question their feedback? I always do, sometimes they rectify it, sometimes they are just ****heads!

and all you can do is leave positive but write ''beware of buyer''!!

Automatic feedback is left upon payment, I know not everyone agrees with that but it has worked for me so far. I might drop them a message and ask if they can retract, but as you say some people are just ****heads and I wonder if I even want to go there.

of course you can see where ebay are coming from but they are forgetting the sellers reputation can be ruined so easy even if they have played by the rules.

And they have taken our only recourse action away from us.

SAY NO TO NEW FEEDBACK SYSTEM!!!

Maybe we should create a online poll to see what other internet users think of this new change from ebay.

I've been buying and selling on eBay for years, I even did their £90 eBay "University" course (waste of time and money) and I also think the new feedback system is pants. I've had a couple of bad experiences with buyers leaving bad feedback, one even got VERY abusive in emails (personally and racially) - it's all very well eBay saying report them, copy in their emails etc, but you never get to find out what eBay actually do about it (if they do anything at all.) I even had one seller cashed a cheque for £40 said he hadn't, I got the bank to prove he had cashed it, reported it, etc...he was even making abusive phone calls in the middle of the night to me, sometimes 10 times in one night, but all I was told by eBay was to report him to the police. I did, but they referred me back to eBay and said it was their problem. So I took it into my own hands, did some detective work through the feedback system, and found a lot of his customers had been having the same experience as me. After a lot of messaging and phoning each other, we managed to track him down, I even found out the phone number he was ringing us all from at night was a call centre he worked at, so I gave all the info to the police and they dealt with it. Incidentally, the police were disgusted with eBay.
How about us all boycotting the new feedback system and not leaving any? Would it work? Would need an awful lot of people to do it, though!

99.9% of my customers are polite and good ebayers, so I don't mind leaving them feedback. TBH - I don't think the boycotting feedback would work anyway. The only thing I see to do is to go along with ebay or go elsewhere.

WOW I'm back on my 100% feedback, they must have changed this now. I had one neutral a couple of weeks ago which took my 100% to drop to 99.8% but today I'm back on 100% (and the neutral is still there).

Dont forget they are going to also use the detailed seller ratings, which are *anonymous* to help decide your listings placement in the results.

The worse your DSR the lower your item will appear, and the less sales you will get.

Anyone buyer leave bad DSR without fear of being identified as they dont let you know who left what rating. So rivals can purchase, leave a glowing positive, but really bad dsr ratings and still affect you without your knowledge.

Oh, and the prices are going up through the roof (ebay as usual thinks its a improvement) with minimum listing fee of 40p, and the final value fee rising to just short of 10percent etc, of the top of my head. The changes were announced recently and are coming into effect next month.

Shop prices have increased dramatically also.

Prices keep on rising, the service does not improve, people are getting unhappier, yet they still keep on making their millions as they have a never ending supply of people to take the place of anyone who leaves.

Yes, sure.

I look at ebay as just another advertising avenue. I'll see what the invoice totals for the first month with the new fees. Too difficult to estimate.

Powerseller also get further discount. I suppose only the bigger shops are going to benefit.

Small shops and individuals will be hit the hardest. Who will try and sell a second hand t shirt at 99p on auction now.

The thing is, for sellers, that's where the buyers are, not on ebid or anyotherauctionsite.....

Neutrals are no longer included as a negative in the feedback stats, thats why the feedback has increased for many recently.

Re the new fees, some will gain some will lose, people who sell high ticket items in particular will do well, but you need to experiment the number of listings, format etc to decide if ebay will still be relevant for you to sell on.

Played with the calculator using my July figures and I would be worse off, UNLESS I sign for the Featured (only got basic) shop, then I would save nearly £170 on the new fee structure between basic and featured!!! Time will tell!

I closed my ebay shop yesterday as after working it out on paper it seemed more worthwhile to just do BIN and auctions, which do pretty well for me anyway. But I have just used the calculator in the link and it says I am better off with a featured shop. That's a good link, thanks. As said, time will tell.

if you stop running auctions you will not get as much traffic because auctions generate alot and people like to browse your other items if they like what they see.

Take your auctions away and your sales will most proberly drop.

thats been my experience anyway

I'm a bit confused - I thought the new changes would mean that the 30 day shop items (which are in theory the same as the usual listings now) are included in searches. I'm going to see how I go with no shop for now however.

Under the new criteria shop listings will appear in the core results, currently they feature right at the bottom of the core results.

It's complicated to explain easily, but the new version being introduced will be sorted by relevance, numbers sold in the past, price, dsr ratings etc.

Something else to think about is change any listings in price, title, description etc and they get reset to zero on the sale side, so it will automatically drop you down the list of results, at least for a while.

As with all ebay changes, a lot of people jumping to conclusions without thinking too hard, personally I reckon the only way anyone will know for sure how this will effect them is with time.

Two things I am sure of, one is ebay will be gaining in the pocket long run, FVF up to almost 10% is quite a large slice, but they still have the traffic, the other is hobby sellers will pay an awful lot more to sell an item.
