I know this will be boring to most of you, but I have to tell someone.

It's taken almost eighteen months of:

a) Over 80 Letters and emails to one of our suppliers, Lots of legal advice, calling in every favour we had out there.

b) Threats, both business and personal from them.

c) Them selling at half of cost to our competitors in an attempt to close us down.

d) Even them paying the rent and rates of another competitor to open up in direct competition to us.

e) Them bad mouthing us to other Suppliers.

f) Them ignoring us for months at a time.

g) Them sending us threatening solicitors letters accusing us of almost everything, including Libel and fraud.

But Hubby held his nerve, refused to be bullied, kept telling me to trust him and that our ethics would win through, kept telling me to ignore the threats and solicitors letters ("They are paid to write letters - it's all they do"). Sometimes that was very hard to do, I admit it

Come the day of Court (Monday) - it was Hubbys turn to ignore them and their desire to "settle on the steps or you will be destroyed in court". Four hours later, during which I was a nervous wreck as he insisted I stay in the shop and I get the phone call - We won on every single count ! All our costs paid and the supplier has effectively paid all our rates and rents for the next 12 months.

I want to scream it from the roof tops and tell the world - Hubby just says we should be humble in victory and move on. As much as I love him, sometimes I could smack him !

So forgive me, but I have been singing this for the last 36 hours and I don't see me stopping anytime soon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppotuhZjIkA

and if I could gloat just a little - Our own little recession is over !!!!!!

Well done! I can well empathise. Our tenacious fight with 'the powers that be' has won the right to hold an out-of-time appeal (16months instead of the statutory 21 days) We still have the court to go though.

Fantastic for you <raises a celebratory cup-a-soup>

Did you fight on restraint to trade? harassment or?

Even though it's all public record now I believe, all Hubby will let me say is that they were a big European Distributor that should know better. They distribute glass products with a diamond touch (that might help someone).

We went after them for Breach of contract, Libel, deffamation and under the Competition Act (that was the costly one for both of us). It was all very sad as we did absolutely nothing wrong and if they had apologised right at the start we would have shook hands and walked away. Instead, as soon as we pointed out very politely that what they did was wrong, all hell broke loose- it all boiled down to a four men with egos and chips on their shoulders playing "my willy is bigger than your willy". Perhaps it helped that they didn't understand UK law
