Did you see this on Channel 4 tonight. What a giggle
It was about a Mediator who was brought in to resolve a dispute with a customer who's £43k extension was over-running by 7 months. The builder was owed around £6k for the final staged payment and the customer was claiming that he should finish it for more or less nothing as they were claiming that he owed them in £7k worth of penalty charges as written in the contract. The builder didnt want to finish the job as he thought he wouldn't get paid but the customer wanted the job finished.
Highlights for me that when the rules of the new regime were agreed the customer installed a clocking in machine complete with punch cards for each employee in the hallway ready by the front door and when they were 10 mins late they had to mow her lawn. All the builder wanted was to not be shouted at and have a brew at 12.30 and another one at 3pm
If the lady of the house didn't bring him his tea on time then she had to go and get his materials for him.
How that lovely builder put up with them I do not know... poor chap
On a serious note I think it is nice to see more balanced albeit light-hearted TV that doesn't paint all traders as rogues and customers as saintly
Did anyone else see it? Any thoughts?
