Domain Pointing?

Hi guys,

I know this is probably in the wrong section but I am after some advice.

I own a couple of .com's (registered with different companies) and I want them to point to my .co.uk with hosting.

I know I can pay to have it done but is there any free way of doing it?

I tried changing name servers but that just directs them to godaddy holding page and not the website I want it to go to.

Hope that makes sense to someone.

Any help would be great

In the control panel where your domains are held you should be able to set up a redirect for the domain names. Their FAQ sections should help.

Which companies are you using for the .com domains?

tmdhosting, 1&1.co.uk and 123reg.

I done everything they said to do but they direct to godaddy holding page instead of my godaddy hosted site.

It may be that you need to include the full address including http and www when setting up the redirect? So you may need 'http : // www . yourwebsite . com' rather than just 'http : // yourwebsite . com' or 'yourwebsite . com'. (Sorry i can't post normal example address as I'm a newbie and it won't let me)

Don't change the nameservers, that's to redirect a domain to a new host.

Login to your 123reg control panel and click on 'Web Forwarding'. Select the domain you want to redirect and click 'Add' then enter the .co.uk domain.

The other registrars will have similar controls.

For 1&1 there's an 'Edit Destination' link, and then for Destination this wants to be a Redirect and the redirect settings you need 'HTTP redirect' with the full address in the text box.

The 123reg is working now and I am just waiting to update on the 1and1.co.uk.

Any ideas for the Tmdhosting one?

Move all your domain to one host, better still if you have 3 domains in 3 places more all 3 to a 4th. This gives you more control and if you need support you are only learning one admin control panel for the domains.
