Facebook is VERY, very effective for us- BUT, we know how to use it. I'm not intentionally going to insult certain people on here by telling them they aren't using an extremely powerful tool correctly, but to be perfectly honest, they aren't. Everything in this post is fact and comes from the fact that we invest some time and some money on our Facebook presence. And I would hope from this post people will realize what they're potentially missing out on.
Read this and then read it again.

If all you are going to do is link blog to FB or just post on FB about offers and products it's not going to work. But if you use it to engage properly of course it can work for certain products and services. Except most people don't. Even worse are those who use automated services to post on FB and other SM sites.

We do, it's actually a good source of new business for us. We are a dog walking company (a little different to most people on here I guess) so use both Facebook and Twitter to share photos of the animals in our care, it's worked great for us, owners of the pets share the photos to their pages and our reputation has grown off the back of it.

We do but have found Facebook to be highly ineffective as a way of doing B2B marketing. We're yet to try Facebook retargeting but with our offering being purely B2B I think it's a step too far into someone's personal space.

I'm a B2C and I've just opened a Facebook page and joined Twitter. I really see these as outlets to let people know I'm here. I'm not expecting to gain many sales from them, but if it does, it'll be a bonus!

To be honest I've become quite disappointed with Facebook over the past year, I've had a page on there since 2013 and have managed to get 6,000 likes on it over that time through a strategy of some giveaways and also through facebook ads to target relevant people.

Unfortunately while for the first year or two we had plenty of interaction, this year Facebook seems to be showing our posts to fewer and fewer people in their timelines, with 6,000 likes we used to at least reach 1,000+ people immediately and this would then go up further once people started sharing and liking, but now an average post is only reaching 100-200 people and facebook instead pops up saying if want to reach more of your followers, then you can boost your post by paying for it.

Rather disappointing really given we paid Facebook to grow our followers but now to actually reach them we need to pay again.

Its free and generates a fair few sales for me.

Can be annoying if you're trying to have a conversation on there because the software is bloated and terrible but if you can get past that, you might do OK.

Not sure what additional functionality I would want or need. People name-drop me in groups, I respond and typically get a sale. What's not to Like.
