Does buying keywords help SEO?

Hi all,

I came across a site called TheWordCollection (dot) co (dot) uk

They sell keywords that link to your website for £1 each.

If I buy some, will this help to improve my rankings on the search engines?

Rankings on the search engines Matt is easy a free if you know how.
First of all mate what`s your Niche??
do you have you own website? etc if so you need to start brand naming yourself.

1. Find something people want to buy your product or service.
2. Produce 'something' that tells them about the product you have.
3. Go find where people who want the product hang out.
4. Drive them to your 'something'. being your link or website
5. If they like the product they will buy it (or one of your other ones).

Adwords is the google PPC advertising model and you can find all about it here

General advice is to use this in conjunction with your Organic SEO

It's a complete waste of time. There are quite a few of these site around and none of then are any good. The search engines will only take account of those links that endorse a website so no, buying keywords won't help in the slightest.

BTW, you won't get banned for buying links. If you were then the whole of the online advertising industry would collapse overnight.

Buying links on those kinds of sites for SEO purposes is a waste of time. The link has almost no value because there are so many other links on that page and Google could ban that site (not your site) one day for selling links for SEO reasons.

The Google terms now state that you should use the no follow tag in a link which you have sold, rendering it useless for SEO.

The only time I would say yes to buying such a link would be if it actually generated traffic which converted. For that website I don't think it would.


As for Adwords if you do it wrong it can drain your finances extremely fast, however if you do it right it can be the best adverting resource in your media mix. When one of my clients first came to me they were only using Adwords and turning over £264,000/year. After a bit of tweaking of their Adwords account and landing page their turn over shot up to just over £1 million for the exact same spend. Need I say more?


To Kanchan: There is plenty to know about SEO. Start reading forums like this one and if you really want to get into it you might want to consider buying an SEO course. The SEO landscape is always changing though, so the SEO learning curve is never ending.

Links from sites like this are more likely to get your website penalised by the search engines than improve your ranking
