Do you use Skype for business?

Do you use Skype to keep your clients up to date, talk to business contacts, promotional tool?

I have been using Skype in the last two months and have over 60 contacts which I talk to regularly.

How do you use Skype and do you find it effective?

Feel free to share your Skype name's as well :)

Michael

Dear my friend,

This is Sunny Dai from China. As a sales I always use skype to contact my customer. That's a great helpful tool for me. If you are interested in we can talk more...

Nice weekend for your all!

I do and I find it great. I have a Skype phone number as well - so I do Skype to Skype and Skype to landline. I cannot find a reason to NOT use it. It works out well and I like the fact that messages are e-mailed to me. I was recently working out of the country, but was still able to contact people in exactly the same way as I normally do - through Skype!

I have landline number with Skype which diverts to my mobile. Problem is - its getting too expensive as you start getting more calls. 20p/min diverting to mobile. I wish I could take this landline number to other provider, but its on my business cards already.

Some Skype numbers can be transferred (ported) but not all. If you'd like us to find out, PM me the number and I'll check.

Our divert to mobile costs 12p per minute, charged per second with a minimum charge of 1p.

The problem with Skype mobile pricing on their pay-as-you-go tariff is that they have a minimum duration charge of 1 minute plus a connection charge which means that even a call of 1 second's duration will cost almost 18p.

I Use Skype For The Following:

    -Free Calls (Voice And Video)!
-I Use A Business (Landline) Telephone Number Through Skype
-Voice Conferencing - Free And Works Right Across The Globe

In My Experience Wifi is critical. I have skype on my iphone but 3G stuggles a bit. I don't have a paid account although my partner does pay a fixed monthly rate to call landlines abroad.

It's a good service. Occasionally there are connection problems but in general if the wifi is good then the calls are great.

Yes, as you know Mike I do ;)

It depends, I have some clients who will happily use Skype and others that prefer the phone, it's rare that a Skype chat will involve the video element.

It's good for instant messaging and I've also used it for the odd conference call. It's an excellent tool.

    I

    I Love Spreadsheets

Been using it for a couple of months now with separate UK and US telephone numbers and it has worked a treat for me. The only bad call I had was to a mobile in Northern China so I couldnt say for sure it was Skypes fault

I do, quite a lot in fact,

I have clients in France, Andorra, Singapore, Jersey etc

Its a useful tool and its also nice to see them face to face as I communicate with them

I find it effective too as the distance can feel closer in no time at all. Also, its free which kind of helps!

I do hypnotherapy sessions with people over Skype because it's much easier if we can both see each other. I've done sessions with people all over the world and also with people in the UK who preferred to do a session from home. I have had a couple of times where the quality has been a problem but we rescheduled and the next time it was fine.

What would happen if your customer is in deep sleep state/trance and you loose your broadband connection...?
