It depends where you are buying from. If you are using Alibaba to source from China, you can search for a product and then tick the boxes and filter down to factories that have the appropriate credentials.

Make sure they are 'verified' which means a third-party inspection company has visited to make sure everything they are claiming is true. And then, just to be sure, I would also use an inspection company (I used Richforth last time) to go in and do their own checks. You can ask them to look for specific things an it doesn't cost a fortune. The last time I did it they turned up as a team, spent all day there, took loads of videos and photos, checked certificates, etc and it was about $150.

And then they switch back to the junk production line using cheaper non-eco friendly materials for your order.

Depends on the factory. The good ones don't. If you do your homework and select the right factory that has been independently verified by someone like SGS then the risk is much lower, especially if you also have pre-shipment inspections. The factory produces the goods as normal but before shipment, an inspection company like Richforth comes in and takes a random sampling, comparing it to your standard template. There are industry-standard calculations for this to give a 99% confidence and if the shipment fails, then the factory has to redo the lot. Then another inspection and so on until it passes.

There are of course bad factories that will try this kind of thing but there are plenty that don't. After all, many of the products in your house will be made in China, include most Apple products.
