Do you do it round the back?

The Christmas tree is being dressed and I said we only need to do the front as nobody is going to see round the back. My wife disagrees and has given me the look. I need some advice to answer this important question as I don’t want to spend the night on the sofa.

Is the answer to go down the pub in a strop and let her decorate it however she wants? Or do I assert my masculinity and tell she is wrong?

You must stand your ground on this one. Not only are you right, but you know you’re right.

You can have twice as many glittery bits by just doing the front, and it also avoids the need for any unnecessary stretching.

Another bonus is, the heat from the fairy lights will radiate forward into the room without wasting precious energy by heating up an artex wall.

In your situation, I’d go down the pub anyway, then simply re-do the tree when you get back after 7 pints.

Was nice knowing you!

Wife mentioned she might get a new tree this year (was tapping away on laptop at the time) maybe should have given the conversation my fullest attention instead of throwing in "lets get one of those half trees we can put up against the wall" (I thought this would save me moving around the furniture to make room for the tree as per usual) WRONG .......... don't be stupid has to sit in the bay widow you idiot, it has to look good all round. Oh, ok, sorry (lads) I gave up at this point, and I've now just got back from being dragged round the shops, returning home with four new boxes of lights which apparently I now have to put up around the front door, as she who knows best is fed up with my snow globe.

Note to myself, if I can't escape to the local next year make sure I am fully engage in the Christmas decoration strategy or stay locked in the bloody study.

It is an Xmas tradition in my household, my daughters do the decorations. Eldest one year, youngest next etc. I just sit back and tell them what a great job they have done, better than any previous year blah blah blah, turn the tv on quietly and have a southern comfort.

No need to fix the wheel, stay out of it, stay safe out there.

Decided the pub wasn't a good idea but I was tempted by your suggestion @simon field.

I just let her get on with it while I tested a bottle of Adnams. Then when she had finished I congratulated her on a job well done and got told off for not helping.

Came down this morning and one of the cats has a collection of baubles in the litter tray. So I'm off to the shed for the rest of the day. Much safer there.

There are 2 ways things get into a cat litter tray. One way is that the cat carries them there. The other way is more ... natural. Have you a trip to the vet planned?

I fear the real problem is less complex.

The cat know that Christmas trees should happen until December (ideally 24th december)
My younger brothers birthday is dec23rd so we have never put any decorations up until the morning of the 24th as he used to sulk horribly when he was younger.

So I am with you on this
