Recently i came across an app that's called Starsky.app which turns your text written idea into a a full working web app and it really got me thinking do we even need to learn coding if we have such tools in hand?

What are your thoughts? adapt with ai or give up

    Short answer, yes.

Longer answer, still yes but with caveats ;)

Apps like this one are great if you have ZERO knowledge of web development or design. They do offer people the chance to get a quick and dirty site out there. If you are in the industry though, then it is more of a case of using AI to supplement your skills rather than replace them.

AI is fantastic for getting a framework in place or fleshing out an idea, but as a sole replacement for complex work, no, not yet. Future-wise, then yes maybe but there will always be a demand for those who understand how to use AI tools and leverage them to get the most out of the product.

Use AI where appropriate but don’t use it to build sites or apps.

TBH, the actual coding part is the easy bit. All the research, development, testing and evaluation it what takes up all the time and effort.

A couple of our clients have tried to get work done by AI instead of paying us.

Let's just say it was a total mess and they came back and paid us to fix it.

At this point, AI cannot code full websites or apps. That is bound to change but we have a few years left at least I'm sure.

    Paul.
