Do people really use the bookmarking tabs on webpages?

Hi,

I see so many websites with all the bookmarking sites logos at the bottom but wanted to know if they ever get used. Is it a worthwhile use of your page's real estate?

Has anyone seen any evidence on this? Articles or figures that are credible?

would appreciate seeing them if so.

Same here if I find a site of interest,or that I've bought from ( not major players ) always bookmark them as you never find them again when you want to buy same items again.

I bookmark sites in my browser (and use XMarks in Firefox to sync those bookmarks between work, home and laptop computers) but never use the "bookmark this in facebook/twitter/stumbleupon/whatever" functions.

No only browser bookmarks, I usually find things via google if it's not something I bookmark for use all the time.

I use bookmarks like crazy
We get 30-50% of return monthly traffic from bookmarks, so ya - they work big time. If it didn't, we wouldn't have it on the site period!

I think those tabs are mainly for casual users and that is just a personal opinion because 85% of the time i'll press "CTRL + D" to bookmark a website and there are a lot of people who dont know that, hence, they will click the bookmark link.

Its a good thing to have on your website.

LOL, yes I have so many bookmarked sites that I don't use so i'm gonna delete all of those and only keep the ones I think i'm likely to use in the future. Can't find anything easily at the moment.

I'm no expert, but I don't agree with this.
Although Google doesn't follow 'nofollow', Yahoo does. My site is listed on lots of social bookmarking sites using 'Nofollow' and these all come up in Yahoo's results.
I also get a lot of traffic coming directly from sites such as Delicious that use 'nofollow' so I wouldn't be without them.

Also, although many sites certainly use 'nofollow', not all of them do - for instance Searchles!

It depends on your content - If you have an interesting article people will share. Most sites it wont be used. I suppose its a case of why not have it?
