I keep seeing brands such as V1ce and Popl in my feed. Some initial comments when I have discussed them during networking meetings have been given with "suspicion" of any hidden code installed on a phone once it has been zapped by the NFC.

Does anyone else have experience (good or bad) with them?

Who or what are V1ce and Popl? What feed? What has NFC got to do with a QR code or paper form?

I’m not at all sure what you are asking.

I personally would not engage with an NFC business card, I like to control what data I store in my phone. The same goes for QR codes, I tend not to scan those either as I've seen examples of them being used to trick people into entering data on a form that isn't what they thought it was.

Having said that, someone I know has an NFC card in the hallway of his home that guests can use to connect to his guest wifi network when visiting. I think that is quite 'cool'

QR codes and NFC are totally different things. Hence my confusion.

Like @Ozzy I like to control what information is stored on my phone so would be reluctant to scan a QR code on your phone without knowing what was going to happen.

NFC cards are physical devices with a chip that works in a similar way to a debit or credit card. I wouldn't let you anywhere near my phone with one of these as they can contain malware or surveillance code.

Well, guys, whilst I am definitely an old fashioned printed business card user, ebusiness cards are definitely a growing and useful thing and are becoming more common.

Many of them work by taking you (via NFC or QR) to a personalised page and you can choose to save the contact data to your phone.

Whilst they are useful and handy, they don't feel as personal as being handed a piece of card and coming home from events with loads of them and not doing anything with them, letting them pile up for a couple of years until I decide to bin them all. Occasionally, I will go 'who was that person who did.....' where they reallybecome useful!

I never met any of my clients and I've never met any of those who supply services to my business. So there won't ever be an exchange of business cards.

Local tradesmen however is a different thing. I've got all their cards pinned up on a board in the garage. Many of them struggle with technology.

What I have found is happening a lot when I do go networking is the scanning of LinkedIn QR codes. I have one of these 'whipper snappers' come up to me and asks to scan my LinkedIn profile, which being one of the grumpy types I don't like doing.

The LinkedIn feature is good, but a closed system (for obvious reasons), so limited.
