Different Email Systems

A client has asked me if I know of any better email systems out there or how they could add functionality to their existing email system, which is Outlook. They're a perfume/toiletries distributor/small retailer. I know nothing about email - I only use Mac Mail and some webmail systems.

By "better", they want a) to organise their email better so questions sent to thembut mostly b) to be able to add forms, pre-set layouts in their emails when they communicate with their clients for their mailshots and some individual communications with some customers.

Any ideas?

This is too vague to offer any meaningful advice. It sounds like improvements to two systems in reality; e.g.

• their mail system isn't outlook, that's an email client. They'll probably be using MS Exchange or IMAP as their internal email system, this is not what you'd use for email marketing. This can be tidied up and inbound email can be funnelled into inboxes or to individuals via rules etc.
• email marketing is normally driven by some sort of CRM platform, or at least an off the shelf email system like Mailchimp. This is usually done to add forms, pre-set layouts/designs, plus track sends, open rates, CTR etc. It also allows automation and segmentation and proper email marketing to be carried out.

This is beyond the scope of a quick question on a forum. If you're not in a position to get a proper spec from them, then research and provide solutions, you should try put them in touch with someone who can help deliver their requirements...

Thanks @Paul Carmen, perhaps Mailchimp is mostly the kind of thing they're looking for on the content side. I'll point them that way.

Mailchimp is used to send templated emails to a curated and approved list. It's not something you can use to manage your emails.

I think this might be classic case of discussing solutions without properly understanding requirements.

Organising incoming email enquiries and how best to do outgoing mailshots are very different requirements and may well require different solutions.

Thanks for coming here to help but nope, @Paul Carmen answered me fine. However, this might be a classic case of over-thinking the answer though frustration at the lack of a full specification to provide in-depth answers when a good-enough answer is just fine.

Yes they are and yes they do. That's why I asked them as two different questions, and Paul confirmed they were and replied back likewise. I acknowledged that a Mailchimp type solution might be good for the content side of the two questions I asked.

Do you have any other suggestions of Mailchimp type solutions to address that part of that query?
