Hi

I am looking to improve on my cv so thought I would ask you for some help on here, if possible would you be willing to email me your cv. I can provide you with my email address to forward on to myself, this is just so I get to see what a successful cv should be like etc. Or if possible pass the message on please.

Thanks.

No point in doing that unless we have the job spec. Your CV needs to be tailored for each application.

The key is the introduction, it needs to contain all the keywords in the job advert. If it doesn't do this you won't get past the initial scan. Different job = different intro.

Here are two CVs I have received that were (a) extremely short (b) lead to immediate appointment and a successful career and (c) were both from women -

I, a 30-year-old graduate with a1st Class MA in German literature and politics from XXX University, am looking for a position that provides me with the experience and growth that other employers insist I must have already.

Re your advertisement for XXX, I fulfil all the requirements stated and graduated from XXX University with a first class honours degree in IT in XXX. My practical was with Hewlett-Packard, who took my thesis, a test and measurement programme for their XXX product range, into their general range of test and measurement products, where it is already commercially successful.

In other words, simple facts, stated in simple terms is all you need.
