Cross Cultural Dating App - Combining language learning with international dating

I currently have an idea of creating a dating app which focuses on international dating with an element of language learning. A bit of back story - I currently use an app called Hello Talk which is a language learning app, although many of it's members use it for dating purposes. Therefore, I am debating developing an app which includes both personal development relating to language learning and dating. I am considering creating an app with the following features:-

- Target Audience:- Singles globally.
- Gamified Challenges:- Potential bachelors / bachelorettes need to complete a series of language challenges prior to unlocking a particular profile.
- Freelancers will be on hand offering services relating to the love language used in for example - French.
- The App will operate in a Freemium model with in app purchases (language services)

My previous background is in tech with 5 years experience working in starts ups.

My question in summary:- is the dating app market too saturated? Would a combined language learning / dating app be viable?

Many thanks

The only way to find out if it's viable is to build the app then spend a huge wodge of cash marketing the thing. I play a number of games on my phone and I'm seeing adverts for umpteen dating apps so there may well be an opportunity for your idea.

Saturated markets are for people who don't understand niches. You have found a niche, which is a good start

In marketing terms, your challenge will be that your niche is 2-part 'want to learn a language and dating' - is suspect nobody knows they are looking for that.

I don't know the cost of creating an app, but as @fisicx says, the big cost will be marketing.

But you could market it as 'meeting people from other countries and cultures'.

The only problem with this would be any number of iffy connections with pretty young things from the East wanting to meet young men from the West. But need money to pay phone credit, dinner, tickets or whatever. There are any number of bots/AI who could create profile do the translations. It's a common problem for all dating apps.

@Daniel Britton - who is going to be moderating your app? Right from the start you will need people to look after the app - it takes time to delete the thousands of fake profiles that will inundate your app.

Personally, I find that, for Westerners who come to my country to date pretty young things, language learning is the last thing on their minds.
It's the culture isn't it? They want to meet pretty young things to show them around the country.
