I am looking for a way to to start a business using my skillset, recruitment. My idea is to launch a website aimed at people looking for a job. I would write articles, post tips, and give insight on how to get a job from a recruiters point of view. My issue is how to monetize this enough to make it worth my while? Similar websites have products that they can make money from if the users click on it, mine will not. There is also little in the way of sponsorships too. The only way of doing it would be from having adverts on my website?

Am I missing any ways of creating revenue? Does anyone have a similar site that can help me gauge how much I could possibly make?

You might make a tiny bit from adverts but you will get richer selling your old clothes on eBay.

There are thousands of sites offering all sorts of advice on how to write CV, present yourself and find the perfect job. for example:

or

To make money your website would need to rank higher than all the many other sites all trying to do the same. Then to make money you will need thousands of visitors everyday. A fraction of these need to click on the adverts which will earn you pennies.

I've got a niche site that gets around 3000 visitors a day. I earn about $100/month from that.

I had a business register in my directory recently.

I don't know anything about them or whether it works or not, but they appear to create documents/articles/templates which they sell - https://www.modernhr.co.uk/collections/hr-templates

Would the articles you are writing be published freely or could you package them up in a similar way?

I think the only way would be to use the free tips/advice as a way to drive people to your site with a view to then selling them a more specialist tailored service.

Either advice for companies on how to write ads/interview people overcome offer objections and then sell them recruitment services

    or

Advice to applicants on how to search for a role effectively, write/tailor a cv, prepare for interview, negotiate the best offer and then sell them interview coaching or similar

Late to the party with this response but hopefully still useful.

There is plenty of low competition search queries in this industry. You could absolutely rank well for a number of job search terms if you wrote helpful content. However, you probably won't make enough from display ads, especially if you are targeting UK employees. Not enough search volume.

A site like this would be a better fit for a digital product. A well priced video course on "An expert recruiter unlocks the secret to securing the most in demand job" etc, charged at around £100 (ish).

It would take a week or two to put the course content together and film it (webcam on computer is fine).

Recruitment is quite broad though, so in order for this to work well you would need to zero in on a target audience. Public sector workers, teachers etc. A large but clearly definable target group.

The traffic required to make affiliate marketing or CPC ads profitable would be too high to acquire without significant cost and/or effort. Make it personal, offer 1-2-1 coaching, 30 minute video call slots, advice specific to applicants, CV reviews by actual people, and mock interviews etc... that would be unique but to add scale you would need to enlist some support maybe, from freelancers. Lots of budding HR people might like to support, before you know it the business model is similar to something google launched a few years ago where you could pay to take lessons in music or something from music teachers who were moonlighting on this site for spare cash.

There is a lot of potential SEO wise! ?

The question is, how should you approach this? Your idea is great, but will a written blog be effective enough?

Probably not. Are you comfortable in front of the camera? Are you interested in starting a podcast?

    Think exposure.

What are the ways I can drive people to my website.

Ads on your site won't be enough to make your project a success, you'll need other forms of lead magnets and outlets to engage people.

How can you make this idea valuable?

In terms of generating leads/sales, you'll want to stay away from the ad revenue and focus on your business idea.

You'll need over 150,000 hits per day to make a decent living on your site, maybe more.

You could develop a short course and offer a one-off payment type of deal.

You might prefer the subscription model, like @Stan512473 said, and look at the information your customers need to land their dream job.

With your expertise, you'll want to consider how to communicate that and what role it will play in your business.

I'd recommend doing extensive research of different industries so you can attract more people to your site with specific information and advice.

Or you could set-up a traditional recruitment agency with a twist.

    Good luck!

Unless you are providing specialised and top-earning positions to job seekers, it would be difficult to make money out of the average employee classes of people looking for employment, the model would have to be taking a commission from first pay, or from the employers instead, and providing the job searching and other facilities for free.

From my job-seeking experience, such individuals end up posting job profiles on numerous job sites. I have had experience looking for jobs and was disappointed with the level of service provided by many high street brands out there and it was a stressful time, the recruitment agents care more about the employers than the job seekers as that is where they get their money from, so the job seekers become just a numbers game.
