Hi guys,

I have a product in mind which i would like to bring to life.

I would like to fabricate two prototypes, one from a hard plastic and one in a soft form preferably from silicone type sheets.

I wont go into too much detail but it a basic design which is similar to a large tray, it will be approximately 65 x 65 cm , the product fits particular purpose. It will have a few more specifics but they are not necessary to know this post.

I reaching out to you guys for help where to go to have plastic and silicone products designed and manufactured.

Specific companies ideally or even advice on where in the world would be most cost effective to have these items made and import to the uk.

Thanks in advance and have a good night :)

Mouldings of that size will have a very high tooling cost, think 5 or even 6 figures per item dependant on design.

There are places in the UK who can help, I would suggest you contact Rutland plastics

I have worked with them on larger moulding before and found them very professional.

As @pentel has indicated, the tooling costs for a moulding of that size will not be cheap and potentially way above your budget.

Get quotes from 3 - 6 suppliers and compare (they will vary a great deal, often in the thousands of pounds), as well as production costs per unit, for the exact materials you want for both options.

Mate of mine needed a silicone thing so made a mould out of wood and left over stuff. He got a silicone mix and did it himself. Wasn’t the prettiest result but did the job.

Hard plastic is a bit more complicated but still doable.

A lot cheaper than paying for a company to do it for you.

You'll need a professional digital mock up of your product for the visual prototype.

Like @fisicx said, is there any way you can create the prototype yourself first? At least the silicone one to cut costs?

Plastic will be expensive, but you can choose different types of plastics to cut costs if feasible for your type of product.

Best to consult someone first, then get your quotes.
