Hi,
I’m moving 2 boat engines from Sardinia to the uk for repair. Then I’ll send back.
Does anyone know the cpc code please?
Value now is really zero, value after fixed maybe 5k.
So what value do I use?
Thank you
Phil.

Hi

The UK importer will need to use inward processing. Only UK based persons/ businesses can use the relief. They should be able to apply for this at the time of import. This is known as authorisation by declaration. Details of the process and procedure codes are in the below guidance.
www.gov.uk/guidance/using-inward-processing-to-process-or-repair-your-goods

It’s also important after the goods have been repaired to export them in the correct way otherwise the duty becomes due.

Customs won’t accept a zero value . The engines must be worth something even if it’s just scrap or spares.
There is useful guidance here.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm really struggling. I have read through the info you suggested, but it's just too complicated (for me).
The pallets are due to be picked up tomorrow and the pallet couriers are demanding this cpc code and I just don't know what to tell them.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Phil.

There isn’t just one code . There will be two customs declarations one to get the goods out of Sardinia and one to get the goods into the UK. Both customs services need different information.
I not sure from your posts what role you are taking in the process so very hard to help

Basically I've bought a boat and it's in Sardinia. The engines are duff so I went out last week to remove them and palletise them. I want to bring them back and fix them, then send them back. The value is zero ish now and will be around 5k worth when fixed up. I'm a permanent resident in uk all my life and also run a business.

Ok . As you are not resident in the EU you cant usually use any EU special procedures so you should just be able to tell the carrier it’s a standard export.
On import you could declare to inward processing which is procedure 5100 000
If you just want to claim VAT relief then use A04 as the last three digits.
Otherwise the standard import code is 4000000 but you will pay any import VAT and customs duty.

You really need to talk with the carrier to make sure that they are assisting you as needed.
Using the relief does come with responsibilities so use it wisely otherwise you will end up paying the import duties anyway.
