considering getting voip, but im confused

Ok, here is what i want

My Business is a build up of 3-4 seperate brands encovering the different areas of service we offer (SEO, Website Development and Hosting), and currently I have a single number for all of them. And whilst we do not hide any of the brands from our clients, I find it rather unprofessional answering my phone "Good Morning/Afternoon Nathan Speaking"

What I am after is 3-4 lines, with caller display and instant forwarding for when i leave the office with voice recording to allow me to ensure my (outdoor) notes are taken correctly and showing me the number allocated on each line. Now for the biggest problem we have, Im on BT Broadband, and from what I have read they lock out other VOIP ports:(

Looking at the various providers, voipfone have jumped out at offering all of this, and configurable online. but my biggest concern is bt broadband causing us issues and getting it all setup

We use voip as in a single broadband circuit we can have up to 19 lines incoming at one time. Voip is a cheap way and the best way to have multipul business numbers. What I'd suggest is getting a local voip server installed. sounds expensive but isnt. Installing your own server in your office enables you to control any number of incoming phone lines with independant voice receptionists. All line ring on your internal phones but tell you which line is ringing and which department they may be calling as well.

we offer voip servers for around £950. this included a bt fall over line connecttion to your standard analog line. that way if it goes belly up you still have a connection.

give me a call and we can discuss in more detail.
And dont worry Colin we use voipfone as part of all solutions we install but local VOIP PBX gives alot more control.

virtual pbx doesnt allow for personalisation ,and skype uses too much bandwidth.

cheap isnt always best guys... especially if you are wantint go create smoke and mirrors for 4 different brands .

BT doentr lock out voip but static IP is required for asterisk to asterisk comms.

once initial setup is done you can bring your call costs right down.

we use a gsm gateway to save on mobile phone calls, 2 voip providers for call rates of 0.5p per minute. we've saved around £80 this month alone and thats been a very short quiet month.
Believe me we know the various options and costs and overheads, we've done them all.

im not looking to portray smoke and mirrors - as I will not hide any of the brands from any of the potential clients.

I do however want to ensure I at least answer the calls under the correct branding. Everything else however is done under the one ltd company.

Whilst I want to keep costs down, I am looking for a solution which allows my company to grow, getting the infrastructure correct at this early stage whilst I have time to study the potential solutions, and work out the finance required to get it in place, however I wont necessarily go with the cheapest solution

So you need as system for call forwarding; something you can log into remotely and change the rules. Record your own prompts.

As I said, BT ring central. google it, i cant poste the link.

No you can’t integrate VOIP into it; but sitting behind BT ring Central is a VOIP system anyway. It offers screening, blocking CLI and DLI configuration. You can even review in real time (for example on your laptop) what happening and where the calls are going.

You only want to start playing with Asterix boxs if you want internal rules within your office system.

You need a product called 'Line Presentation' with separate number for each business. All calls for all numbers can ring the same telephone (or many phones if you like) and LP shows the number that was called so you can answer it properly.

    It's explained here:
