Cold call from vultures

Hi,

I was cold-called by a business consultancy today. They have obviously seen the business is in trouble. They were offering to buy the business from me (for a fee) to make my problems go away. They would also negotiate any PGs on my behalf and offered a service for eliminateing overdrawn DLA (if there were one).

I'm naturally very suspicious but wondering if this is a valid service that can add value to me?

Does the deal include you working for them at some point after they take your business from you for a fee ?

"We negotiated on your behalf.... the other party refused to agree to anything so you still owe all the money. Bye."

How do they know the business is in trouble - has there been a recent CCJ or a winding up petition advertised?
