Hi there.

I've recently build a website and am quickly accumilating a lot of images and databases on my computer. I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations for backup via cloud storage? or anything else?

I had a good recommendation on here for Vidahost (top notch customer service) for the hosting so looking to see what people think about this? Main reason why is I've just cracked the screen on the laptop...I have a back up ready but I'm not prepared to send the laptop away without having a copy of the data.

Ive just started using SugarSync for backing up and synchronising data files in real time on our office pc's - works a treat!

I recommend RSYNC.NET They offer online filesystems that can be used with any operating system. I've used them for a number of years now and it turned out to be very reliable.

Hello,

In our office we use two NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices. One in the office and another offsite. Both NAS are setup with RAID1 which gives us a total of 4 copies of our data.

You can also configure the NAS to backup to a server.

SugarSync is offline :D Amazon I cant seem to get my head around. RSync seems simple and very cheap. Is it an automatic thing to save to their server? If I could find something that is a one button process at that price id be pretty happy.

We offer a few online backup solutions. We can also provide a briefcase drive which is just an online harddrive that you can use as a local drive on your PC to store data offsite or between other PC's.

In my opinion, depending on the hosting resources required for your website, you must sign up for a good hosting plan. After that the web host will provide backup for your data and it will be secured. Make sure to opt for a web host who offers a 24/7 technical support in order to take care of any issue at any time. You can start with a simple shared hosting plan instead of option for cloud hosting right away and once the online transactions on tour website increase, the plan can be upgraded.

Well the website, databases etc are on the server for the website.

I think maybe what I'm looking for then is online cloud storage for all my files. Possibly with multiple user access and restrictions. So I can offer work space to potential employees as well as having a secure back up for data.

also try hidrive.. its it good old ftp with bells and whistles.. there a loads of ways to connect and sync info

also, microsoft live sync is often over looked.. free of charge easy to set up and will sync data between any of your machines

Dropbox is very good, although you may want to checkout apples iCloud when it reportedly launches at the end of the year

Companies like Dropbox, SugarSync, Box, and etc. are good enough to invest in to keep your data on the cloud. I prefer using SugarSync and Dropbox because they have proven to be the best player in the market.

I bought a new domain but i dont know what to do next, i want server and storage area for hosting my new website with cheap rate.

can anyone offer or suggest me some services for hosting

If you aren't a tech savvy then you must look for a managed hosting company that will host, manage and do all cloud related stuff on your behalf. And if you do not want to avail management services, then look into the features and pricing of Rackspace. They are good enough to invest in.

I run Wordpress based sites and use a plug-in that backs up to Dropbox.

I used a similar plug-in that was meant to back up to Amazon's S3 servers, but it did not work and just left a back up on my sites server !

Yes, I agree with that. Dropbox add-on is a reliable plugin to use for your WordPress based website.
