    Hi

Up til now I've done my bookkeeping for sole trader stuff using excel.

For my ltd co I use freeagent.

I really like the reports from freeagent, the ability to stay on top of profitability and do tax planning stuff.

Is there a free or one off payment software available to do sole trader stuff. Pretty basic no payroll needed. Just mileage tracking and ideally working off bank feed.

Really dont want to pay perpetual payments each month for an expensive cloud accounting sofrtware.

    ANy suggestions.

As an aside. For my ltd company that uses freeagent. It's doing more ecommerce stuff now and I am finding the COGS, stock adjustments/valuations a bit limited. I can't put 10 different stock items on a sales entry, I can only put one item at a time, So when a sale consists for multiple different inventory I have to break up the sales entry and use multiple entries for 1 sale.

What a good ecommerce friendly accounting software to use?

Wave - Wave is a (for the basic version) free accounting software that offers invoicing, accounting, and receipt scanning features. It's a good choice for small business owners, freelancers, and consultants. https://www.softwareadvice.co.uk/software/18767/wave

GnuCash - GnuCash is a totally free and open-source accounting software that offers a range of features including double-entry accounting, invoicing, and budgeting. It's a good choice for personal finance management and small businesses. https://www.gnucash.org/features.phtml and https://www.softwareadvice.co.uk/software/78759/gnucash

Do you have a sole trader account with NatWest, RBS or Ulster Bank?

Another option athough I've not used it for a long time is VT cashbook.

Again its been a while since I used it but I dont think it has a bank feed and the import facility was hard work but manually entering transactions was quite quick.

I like that, thanks. I'll give it a go. I'm more keen to use this knowing it free for life.

The softwar edoes look dated, a little bit like gnucash above, but at least gnucash is free to use.

I have free use of freeagent through mettle. I've used it for years. But it just isn't suited well for ecommerce. I think it's designed more for contractors than ecommerce businesses. Add in sale of stock is a bit of a chore right now.

E.g. I have returns, items that get lose, items that are faulty that I have to resend. I cannot edit the stock quantity. I asked freeagent support can I amend the numbers and write it off, I was told there is no way to do it, so I "sold" the missing stock through the accounts for 1p and paid 1p back off the DLA.

When recording a sale of stock, I can't do sales of more than 1 line item. Freeagent told me I have to generate an invoice where I can include the line item. I can't do it off the bank feed - only 1 line item alloed when ediitng bank entry.

What platform are you using for ecommerce?

It's on woocommerce and I'd rather not integrate it would accounting software because it's likely to not work exactly like I need it to anyway, but just averse to adding more and more plugins that might break the code.
