In case of our business, we've build integration between ChatGPT and Acumatica ERP. And now, plenty of reports, like cash flow, profit and loss statement, and some others we help to analyze our customers. Besides that, we've added magic button, which helps to improve answer with ChatGPT. Like formulate the answer better, make intent more clear, etc.

If used correctly, to aid you in your potential query/problem - completely support this.

In my day job, I use it regularly - but, always check, rephrase and the more information you give it the better it is. I use Google Bard (now renamed to Gemini) which gives you up-to-date responses.

Never use it for a final solution, for help/guidance/support - absolutely.

I haven't looked at it yet, but I have seen a few brief demos.

What I have seen has on the surface been quite impressive, generating what looks like reasonably well structured "working" code with comments.

However in one demo there were bugs, not in terms of crashes or obvious errors, but logic errors in the code that meant the program didn't give the correct results. These are often the kind of errors that would go unnoticed unless someone was looking very closely. Edge cases and the like.

Be interesting to see how it changes various industries, and what new industries pop up as a result.
substitute interesting for "slightly concerning" .... where is the limit ? the boundaries ?? Some years ago I watched a film series based on this technology !

We got asked for 150 words for a matchday program for a girls rugby team. Being bored and time poor we asked Chat GPT, it gave a really dry bit of text so as a laugh we said "redo in the style of a thames valley roadman" (think someone who hangs around street corners in slough)

the result was hilarious including the best ever phrase "Man's seen grit, fam - more than a tesco car park on a rainy day"

Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to getting my free account with OpenAI and asking 'Who was Jack the Ripper ?' Not 'who were the main suspects?' - I can get that with a Google search, but who was he?
A lot of people are interested in that question but it's literally impossible for ChatGPT to come up with a good answer to it, and it always will be. All it can do is sift through the corpus of existing text on the subject, which invariably consists of people saying the Ripper was definitely their pet suspect, whether that's HH Holmes, Prince Albert Victor, Walter Sickert, Hyam Hyams, Aaron Kosminski etc. Kosminski was a fun one, a slew of articles claimed he'd been definitively identified as the killer and once you got past all the wild claims the "evidence" boiled down to "man's DNA found on local prostitute's clothing".

How to get the best response from chat gpt

To get the most out of ChatGPT, it's helpful to understand how to communicate with it effectively. Here are some tips to make your interactions more productive:

1. Be Clear and Specific

  • Ask Direct Questions: The clearer your question, the more accurate and helpful the response.
  • Provide Context: If your question relates to a specific situation or topic, giving some background can help tailor the response.
  • Specify the Format: If you need a list, a summary, or detailed information, let ChatGPT know so it can respond accordingly.

2. Break Down Complex Requests

  • Step-by-Step Queries: For complex tasks, break your requests into smaller steps. This helps in getting more focused and relevant responses.
  • Clarify with Follow-ups: If the first response isn’t exactly what you need, ask follow-up questions to refine the answer.

3. Use Iterative Feedback

  • Refine Responses: If the response isn’t quite right, ask for revisions or more details. You can guide the conversation to get the exact information you need.
  • Ask for Examples: When in doubt, ask for examples or analogies to clarify concepts or see how something might apply in a real-world scenario.

4. Leverage ChatGPT’s Capabilities

  • Summarization: Use ChatGPT to condense large amounts of information into key points or summaries.
  • Creative Input: Ask for ideas, suggestions, or creative solutions to problems. ChatGPT can brainstorm with you.
  • Learning and Training: Use it as a learning tool to explain concepts or simulate scenarios to practice skills or knowledge.

5. Explore and Experiment

  • Try Different Approaches: Experiment with how you phrase questions. You might find that different wording yields better or more insightful answers.
  • Ask for Recommendations: Whether for books, tools, or strategies, ChatGPT can provide tailored suggestions based on your needs.

6. Use it for Drafting and Editing

  • Writing Assistance: Use ChatGPT for drafting emails, articles, or other written content. It can help you get started or refine your drafts.
  • Proofreading: Ask it to check for grammar, tone, or clarity issues in your writing.

7. Stay Updated on Features

  • Explore New Features: ChatGPT is regularly updated with new capabilities. Stay informed about any new features or tools to maximize its utility.
  • Interactive Tasks: Engage in interactive tasks like coding, calculations, or even role-playing scenarios to deepen your understanding of a topic.

8. Respect Privacy and Sensitivity

  • Avoid Sharing Sensitive Information: Refrain from sharing personal or sensitive data. Keep conversations within a general or hypothetical scope to maintain privacy.
  • Ethical Use: Use ChatGPT responsibly, ensuring your interactions are ethical and constructive.

9. Feedback Loop

  • Provide Feedback: If you find something helpful or spot inaccuracies, provide feedback. This can help improve the responses over time.
By following these tips, you can enhance your interactions with ChatGPT and make the most out of the tool’s capabilities

ChatGPT is quite astounding and its capabilities keep on increasing. I use it several times every day for a wide variety of purposes.
Last month, my son asked it to re-write his CV to make it more consistent with the style of CVs in the USA because he wants to work there. It came back with a revised version that was a massive improvement. The Yanks use a different structure, different spelling and different words and colloquialisms.
Within a week he got a job offer and took up the position. He was fast tracked as being Australian he was able to get an E3 visa within 7 days.
On the negative side, I do worry that ChatGPT will put a lot of IT people out of work.

Chatgpt learns from reading the internet

As more posts/internet content becomes ai generated it starts learning from itself and that will become an ever growing viscious circle of AI learning from AI. A single fake fact or assumption will multiply

The only way to stop that is some way of AI watermarking it's own output which the AI providers will never do

It is useful and makes a lot of jobs much easier
It can't clean out the cat's litter trays. Or do the washing up. Or fix the droopy gutters.

If you are a business, I'd be careful with the free version if you post sensitive information. You’re better off investing 20 bucks a month for a paid version where your data is not used to train their model (and possibly read by humans). Shop around, as there are alternatives (Copilot, Gemini, Claude, and many others). They are all good in their ways, depending on your specific needs.

    That's just a matter of time !
I remember seeing a meme that said they wanted AI to go to work in the factory so they could stay as home painting pictures and writing stories.

Similarly, I'm a programmer and I find it brilliant as a time-saving device when writing new code. I've only just scratched the surface so far but am really, really impressed in what it can do.
I use Github Copilot for AI programming information. It integrates directly with your IDE and can use the code you have already written to make more informed responses.
