Changing a brand name

I have a business called, say, XYZ. One of my products is called MyProduct1 under brand name MyProduct1. The problem I have is that when I went to register a Trademark, I could not get it without challenging a huge company.

So, given my predicament, I was thinking that maybe I could keep the product name as MyProduct1, but change the brand name to MyProduct2. So, packaging shows MyProduct1, but the brand is MyProduct2 (for which I do have a trademark).

Can I do that, or if you have a product called MyProduct1, then I cannot have it as brand MyProduct2?

Probably a stupid question, but just checking!

I know it sounds confusing having a company called XYZ, where the packaging says MyProduct1 as the product name, but the brand is MyProduct2. But is this possible/legal?

You mean you sell Ginger Beer but can't trademark this. But you can trademark 'Fentimans' and sell Fentimans Ginger Beer.

In other words: you do the same as Heinz, Pepsi, Kellogs and zillion other brands do. XYZ is irrelevant as it's just the name of the company that owns the brand.
