The sad fact is Google's rank hypocrisy: refusing to properly police Adsense and then the search team attacking some of the premium publishers as spam.
Rather than Google Search implement an algo that throws the baby out with the bathwater, Google Adsense should have some basic policing. The Adsense team seems to rarely act over spam reports via the Ads by Google link, even when the sites reported are clearly just spam sites putting Adsense around republished RSS feeds.
