hi i am looking to start buying and selling cars for a small profit, this is somthing i am doing on the side of working comitments as a hobby as i like cars.

All i need is some advice on my options of buying and selling.

should i buy from auction - sell private or ebay.
buy from ebay - sell private
buy private - sell private
buy ebay - sell ebay.

where can the better deals be done,
i have been told auctions are good for picking up bargains however there is bigger risk of real shoddy cars from there.

i am not looking to do any mechanical work of such, just simple buy a working car and valet it and sell it on, even if it just make £100-£200.

so where should i buy and sell ?

I think buying from auction or from eBay you will be faced with the same problem. You will have limited ability to do a full mechanical check. Auction houses can be quite limited in how much access you can get to a vehicle, even under the bonnet sometimes, and when you're buying off eBay you're limited to whatever access the seller will grant you and if you can get to see it before you buy.

That means you are limited to limited checks and the paperwork which particularly in auctions might be missing or incomplete. Only experience will help you with this.

When it comes to selling - you sell by whichever method makes the most money!! Realistically I'd say that will private sales but you shouldn't discount the other methods immediately.. see how you get on.

I would personally visit car auctions, but be careful. Then I would look on eBay and see how much they were going for to see if it was worthwhile putting them on (Don't forget the fee's) if not, Look in local newspapers/yellow pages. Putting 'for sale' signs up and parking in a visible area would also help :)

Same here, car auctions are your best bet. You can see the vehicle, pay for it and drive it home the same day. It can them be parked outsite your house with a poster in the window that evening.

A mate does it and clears 2-3 cars per week. Stick with smaller cars you an sell to new drivers or as runabout. Most important thing is the MOT, it's almost always the first thing anyone asks about so you need 12months if possible.
