Simply add this meta tag to your <head> section of your HTML

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="X;url=URL" />

Where X is the number of seconds, and URL is the URL you wish to redirect to after X seconds.

So if you had a page called "default.html" and you wanted it to auto-refresh every 10 seconds you'd put:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="10;url=default.html" />

just revisiting this hoping for a little more help!

I installed auto refresh onto my google chrome and set it up on a DVLA page here https://www.gov.uk/change-driving-test

This page once you input your driving licence number and ref. number enables you to view all available practical driving test dates. DVLA assure me that the page updates live. It doesnt update on its own but does update if you manually refresh so I was hoping autorefresh every 5 secs would do this for me ie I could keep a window open on the screen and keep an eye on it for dates changing. You can see the autorefresh working every 5 secs ie the page jigs about but its not actually refreshing. I have proved this by pressing back button on the site then manual refresh and the dates have changed despite them staying the same all day.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to why this is happening. Sitting at the PC manually pressing re fresh every 10 secs all day aint my idea of fun!!

Is the DVLA site compatible with this autorefresh install? Seems not!

and your problem could be it is not properly refreshing, to do a "full refresh" press ctrl and f5. This refreshes the page without using the cache

hmmm possibly, theres something going on with it. Does the one you linked to do a proper refresh? It needs to be automatic is not me pressing buttons. Your linked site seems a bit haphazard - it refreshes some sites but not others and some sites it wont even open.

nothing happens to the DVLA site when you press F5 like it does on other sites, nor when as you say press CTRL as well!

ok but thanks for your help - appreciate it.....

If of interest by way of background to my enquiry, this is for my 17 yr old daughter. Shes failed twice and I got her a cancellation 4 weeks ago for 4 June. Last Friday as she was awaiting the vet to come to the house to put her dog to sleep she received a text from DVLA saying her test was cancelled due to examiner being unavailable and they had rebooked her for 28 July. You can only imagine how upset she was by this!!!! I am fuming and the phone to the driving test booking centre (only open 9 to 12 during weekdays would you believe) will be white hot in the morning and now I find out the poxy site cannot even be auto refreshed:mad:
