My employer wants to take staff photos to include in their annual promotional calendar.

I don;t wish to have mine taken and understand under Human Rights laws I am within my right to refuse.

There is nothing in my contract pertaining to my agreeing for employer to take my photo.

Any advice?

Of course you can refuse. But guess who will be first out the door when company reorganises.

It's not a "career" job, just a stopgap, so wouldn't lose sleep over it. I run a business which is currently building - the "job" is menial and just temporary cashflow as far as I'm concerned and easily replaced. All the more reason why I don't want my image permanently linked to this employment - in fact it could be detrimental to my business project, which is my priority.
Thanks for advice guys

In which case, stick your guns and just say no. You probably won’t even be there when the calendar gets published.

Just as an amusing anecdote, I once worked at a place where they kept banging on about photo ID even though I was an outside contractor. To cut a long story short, they asked me to email my photo to their ID processor so I sent a picture of the BBC presenter - Moira Stuart. Lo and behold, two or three days later 'my' photo ID arrived in the post. For the remainder of the contract I was known as Moira and no one batted an eyelid.
