Please recommend a company you've used that charges reasonably eg £1.00 per call - NOT PER MINUTE/ SECOND - which is what we are discovering out there!

We are happy to pay a minimum charge (reasonable) per month not per day. Would be glad to actually find a company that will deliver what they promise ie answer calls.........and not after 30 rings!!! At the moment we'd rather stick the phone on answerphone and not divert calls to company we have a contract with as they never answer the phone!

I pay fixed price of £25 per month but that is the reception of the building we are in.

They do a virtual office + call answering for £50pm.

No virtual office services near you might offer similar?

Oh dear.

I can't give you an exact comparison against our services as we mostly answer calls for inbound sales and marketing purposes (as part of our telemarketing support services) but that pricing seems way out compared with most inbound agencies.

Another +1 for Ashley at BananaOffice - I was reluctant to approach them as I thought the prices would be too high (having seen awesome reviews of their services). I was pleasantly surprised and haven't regretting swapping to them.

Be careful, many of the cheapest providers will only take very limited information from your callers. So as soon as you need more than their name, email address, query and phone number, you'll need to purchase add-ons to expand the questioning.

BananaOffice don't seem to do this, and will follow your instructions exactly on how you want calls handled

Were launching this service this month, prices start from £0.75p per call, no charge for sales or marketing calls either?

Throwing another option out there, try alldayPA - you can pay per minute, per call (which is what I do) or per day. If you have 500+ calls a month then I think they can offer something more bespoke.

If I phoned you and some twit answered on behalf of your business I would generally be able to tell and you would not get my business simple.

I just got off the phone to one of these "services" she insisted the person I needed was in a meeting yeah right! I will take my business where I can at least speak to a real person in a real company all can offer me real service.

Rather than the call answering service telephonist being a "twit" it depends on how much information has been provided by the client. At this very moment two of our telephonists are selling massage tables to callers: dealing with questions on raising back rests, types of material the table cover is made of, what the difference is between an external face cradle and an internal breath-hole, etc. (So not the normal service you may expect from a call answering service.)

However, other clients only want us to say "Sorry, they are not available at the moment, can I take a message".

It may sound poor to you, but if that is all the client wants us to do and hasn't provided us with any more information then there's not a lot we can do. For example, we have one client for whom we are a booking line. If the caller wants any other information we are under strict instruction by the client to tell the caller to redial the number they did and choose a different option.
