Buying same products from different countries?

Hi,

I am looking to buy some toys by the same manufacturer but from different countries, so they are in the language of that particular country. The products are not sold here in the UK, although the manufacturer is represented here, but there is no telephone number, just a customer service "email us" which I have, but got no response to my query.

Can anyone suggest any streamlined way of doing this? Are there agents or distributors who might do this for me? I've never done this kind of thing before so don't really have a clue where to start.

Depends what the product is.
We have in the past imported lots of toys, and other products where we import from outside of the UK either for price or because the local distributor wasn't interested in selling to us...the local distributors can get funny from time to time but all in all we have always had a good run.

Beware of importing toys to the UK , or indeed the EU. They need to comply with the EU toy saftey regulations. They need to have the CE kitemark. You (the importer) are liable if things go wrong. It would be advisable to have product liability insurance.

If the toys are not on sale in the UK there may be a reason for this. EIther there is no market, or the toys have not been tested for safety, or they have been tested and failed.

Why not get the item with several languages on the one box, direct from the factory?

As mentioned, safety is the biggest issue!

Surely political changes can create new market opportunities that may not have been there previously and someone will take advantage of it.

Do EU standards not meet the British ones if they carry the CE mark? The toys are manufactured and sold in EU countries, just not here.

The manufacturer can include whatever language you need on the box or instruction leaflet that you need.

Source the factory for the product that you require, and make sure it adheres to all the legal and safety regulations to the country you are importing to.

I want to suggest you to take decision for the delivery of the product after investigating every aspect of the company you are dealing with.this might be a lengthy process but will ensure you from upcoming risk.
