Hi everyone - just to let you know there was an unofficial 'like' campaign started back in April on Facebook for all Northern Ireland businesses. It was like a round-robin with everyone 'liking' each others business page - it was just a way to drive up awareness about what companies are operating in Northern Ireland.

You are more than welcome to go on my Facebook page and work through the 'likes' - they are a good bunch and will 'like' you back.

Hi Zaidy88

I just looked at your website and it is very impressive.

The franchise/referral system is very clever too, I hope it works for you.

If you need an Accountant at any point in the future then please consider me, I am based in Dromore (Co Down) but can pop in to see you if necessary.

Regards
Dave

Hello,

Ive started a disastor restoration company speacialising in fire, flood, storm damage to properties. I deal with the insurance company from the off, right to the final snag in the repairs. Based in Belfast but cover the whole of NI.

Neil

Hi Neil

I hope your new business goes well although hopefully this winter wont include a big freeze, burst pipes and flooding like a couple of years ago!!

Ha ha. It just so happens that on my to-do list today is phone every plumber on the yellow pages to introduce myself and to phone me the minute there's damage to a property from a burst pipe. I'm trying to think of different ways to get to the customer before they phone their insurance company.

Good thinking, I know plumbers were so busy before that they had too much emergency work so there should be plenty of work out there ... if the same happens again of course.

Hi Neil

How about also contacting roofing companies, drain cleaning companies and guttering services! May as well try and get the name out there as much as possible!

We had awful trouble a few years ago with an empty property (due to a family bereavement) and it was a real battle trying to get things sorted.

All the best with your new venture.

Hi vpa

Yes as I say nothing like a bit of debt to get you out of bed in the mornings. :)

Hopefully my 16 hour days will be rewarded at some stage,

Partners are always welcome for joint ventures, so if anyone in the forum has marketing skills and local business knowledge then just on me,

I hope you all get the success you require.
Welcome to this website, hopefully you'll find partners to take some of the pressure off you and to help you to make money from all your businesses.

Don't worry about being 35 next week, I'm 41 and it always helps to meet someone who is a few years older than you!!

I currently own 18 shops
1 hotel

1 new online based company

I am about to close 5 of these stores due to poor sales over this past 5 months.
I intend to relocate or try another business in certain towns.

Things are very tight, If sales continue it s possible ill have nothing left by 2014.

Anyone else feeling tight?

Welcome to this thread and the website in general.

Sorry to hear you are closing some of your shops, I'm sure that was a difficult decision even if the financial side of things made it the right decision.

Sometimes less is more, I wonder if you will be able to focus more on the remaining (more profitable?) shops to make those more appealing to the public and more profitable to you.

Times are hard for most people. I'm an Accountant, I see lots of businesses accounting records and I think people have to a certain extent got used to watching their pennies and have forgotten what its like to spend money more freely.

That's not to say people don't spend money, its just that you have to have a better product, better price, better advertising to reach them at the right time.

If you don't try and innovate then you wont get anywhere but you also need to know when to call it a day and maybe start something else.

Hello,

This is Gavin from Office Convergence Ltd., we're a voice & data consultancy and generally end up working with anything with a flashing light on it.
We supply low energy PC's (10 watts per user), low rate telecom services (3p/min mobiles, 0.5p/min landlines - no call set-up fees and per second billing...) and we also get involved in infrastructure designs (IT) such as call centres and financial services ecommerce. Very hard to list everything really.
We were basically born out of the Quinn Group fallout, were looking to start up on our own and then the Quinn Group issues 1) hurried things up and 2) provided the redundancy monies to finance it all. Been in business just over 2 years and don't owe anyone one iota.
We sit on the middle of the fence in terms of politics and religion - we're all just people at the end of the day.

Hi Dave,

I too am from Co. Down, however, I moved to London and lived in Berlin for a brief period of time when I was studying. Plan to move back in about 6 months for a couple of years.

As for business, I currently run a small IT company which Hosts Websites, Offshores Development Projects to the Middle east and consults on front office to EOP strategy for clients.

All the best! :)

Hi,

My names Adam, I'm 20, and I live half the week in Belfast and half the week in Ballymoney.

I own a digital marketing company (although most of the work we do tends to be making websites), which also does hosting and website maintenance (and sometimes fixes customers printers and wifi lol).

I'm also an economics student in the University of Ulster.

If those two things weren't keeping me busy enough, I'm also researching the possibility of starting a free newspaper to be distributed mainly around Belfast for start-up businesses and entrepreneurs.

To all our success!

Adam.

P.S. This feels like NI Entrepreneurs Anonymous lol

Paul Allen here, previously of Springvale Training, LBM and Computastore, now in business with my brother John Watters (4th year now).

We are JB Office Supplies, based in Glengormley, we offer printer and office supplies to the UK, mainly Belfast schools at moment, but we're in process of expanding on that.

That's why my ugly mug is here. :)

Hi Paul,

There isnt a lot of activity on here as you can see from the date of the last post. Not sure why that is as if you go into the main forum the UK one is very active.

Good luckwith the expansion anyway.

Working my way through the forums, got some time to research things like SEO and account software, this seemed like a decent place to start. Cheers for the welcome. :)
