I'm putting together a website which has a range of questions for businesses to complete. I have the standard questions like business name, address, telephone number, year business started, number of employees, qualifications, the product sold, professional associations, web address, etc.

What other questions would you recommend for the business profile to be added in my website. I want to have as much information a business would need to give potential business clients the opportunity to learn about the business.

I'd like to thank you in advance t=for your help with this question.

All the best.

I'm a bit confused. Is the whole purpose of the website to ask the questions? What are you going to do with the information once submitted?

A busy business needs to see a benefit to filling in a form. There have been umpteen business directories over the years and almost all have failed. If you are planning a directory there needs to be a tangible benefit.

This.

Or as any of your prospects will want to know - 'WIIFM?'

Naïve businesses will be happy to give you contact details & their version of a pitch if they think it might generate leads. Beyond that, they will need compelling reasons to give information. And the information itself will vary between optimistic & pure fantasy.

I don't think you really want anyone to answer this question, I think it was an excuse to post on here so you get some people look at your website.

In which case why don't you ask the question you really want answered which is "How can I promote my website and get businesses to sign up?"

The website is not for end users (customers) its a platform for storing/updating a business information. I have purchased a platinum non geographical number for a telephone based directory enquiry service. I want to ask questions that potential customers may ask to find a business.#

I'd absolutely reinforce the previous two responses. Also, please don't do anything more in marketing until you have some professional design help for your website. Both UI and UX (what it looks like, and how it works).
The design will be the final stage of my project for now I just wanted to know what questions to ask a business for example operating times, business news, etc.

This still leaves the critical question of why a business will be motivated to give you information

And how you will verify it

That makes no sense at all. Why would I want to add my information to a platform if nobody can see it?

A costly and pointless acquisition. People don't pick up the phone to find a business and haven't done so for a long time. They use the many varied and plentiful online tools to do this.
