Afternoon UKBF,

I am currently looking for some help with creativity and assisting me in order to create a business name for my online fitness / gym based personal training business.

I have covered all the usual names in domain searches and namelix tools but nothing has sprung up.

  1. onlinept.com
  2. mypt.com
  3. PersonalTrainer.com
  4. FitPT.com

As expected these are all taken and with no websites attached, just unfortunately purchased by those who wish to sell them at a later date.

I am open to any suggestions if anyone would like to help me find a new name that would be great. I'm happy for PM's too.

Thank you.

Si.

Use your own name. Become the brand.

Or make up something memorable. Doesn't have to have anything to do with the service you are selling.

On a side note, there are gazillions of personal trainer websites. What makes yours different to all the rest?

Thanks for your reply, I had thought to use my name as a brand name but was looking to pick something that could include the words online/fitness/gym/fit etc as looking forward my services wont be limited to one thing.

I keep looking out for some keywords, stuff like "bodycoach" was brilliant but taken sadly.

Even more reason to use something generic

Suppose you get. blahblahfitness.uk and in 6 months time you want to start pushing a diet plan. Your domain name is now redundant. But if you get simonwestern.uk you can do anything you want.

I think it is a mistake a lot of new businesses make when they think they need to put the title of what they do in the name of the business. Or be as generic as possible. Yet some of the strongest brands around, no examples required, have a name/logo in no way representative of the product/service they actually offer. It is actually quite hard to create a brand from something pretty generic. I agree it should be your name. Realistically these businesses are some of the most difficult to scale, you are selling yourself. If you move beyond that, the name is a problem for another day.
