BT Demanding payment via Credit Management company

I have a limited company, in May this year, I asked my staff to set up a new broadband account with a company as Plus Net were no longer working with businesses.
A member of staff set up the account, as I am based outside the UK.
We were paying the bills for that account but then several months down the line we received a letter from BT stating we owed money on another business account set up in my company name.
We have never received any bills on this other account, in fact we think the email address used is not our email, so we haven't received any bills.
The initial account set up was a personal BT account, and I have since learnt that 4 routers ended up in our premises???
I have tried to sort out with BT to find out who signed the contract etc as it was not me, I am the only shareholder and authorised person on the small Limited company.
I have had the broadband cut off and now a demand for almost £4000 for this contract breach?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is incorrect, you say here

I asked my staff to set up a new broadband account with a company as Plus Net were no longer working with businesses.
Which means that the staff member was authorised.

Why was a personal account set up?

Why were the 4 routers not questioned by your staff?

Fair question, I was unaware until I received the physical letter from BT that 4 routers had been delivered?
I wasnt aware it was a personal account set up.
Sounds incompetent, please note this is not related to my business that my account on here is registered to.

I see the logic in that, there was some severe incompetence in relation to this, so would this mean I am bound by the contract.
I'd begin by asking to see the outstanding bills. Then ask why 4 routers were supplied. Then ask to see the contract. It is quite likely you will have to pay something but it's also likely BT have made a mess of things so oyu can ask for a reduction.

I have requested copy of the signed contract, they haven't supplied yet, the Collection agency were actually helpful and chasing that for me, we still haven't received any bills they stated they were sent by email, that we don't have access to, been a complete disaster TBH
