I was looking at brand names for an idea and struggling to find any names where the .co.uk or .com or social media names are available. Even putting 2 made up words together im finding them taken. Has anyone recently managed to find names or have you paid squatters?

When I had the idea for Fit Out Finance, I was very surprised to find the domains were available (except for .com, which is in use in Australia)

I'd start by asking yourself how important your brand will actually be - nobody can answer that, the answer will lie in your marketing plan.
I'd suggest 75% of the time, the only person who cares about ghe brand is the business owner.

Unless you are changing from something "The Post Office" to "Consignia" than you can make any brand name work. You just need to get the marketing right.

Having said that, I still think of Snickers as Marathon

You are not trying hard enough to come up with a name.

When you say the names are taken, where are you looking? Are they actually trading?

I am trying hard enough. I am looking on domain registration sites and the social media sites. Regardless of trading or not they aren't available. Lots of domain companies and traders just register everything and put parking pages on them.
I also used ai to come up with name ideas for my products and virtually all were taken even if just looking at co uk and instagram or fb

Your domain name doesn’t need to be your brand name.

But I do like floobidoobie. If you don’t use I might buy it myself.

B&Q do not use a B or a Q in their website address but DIY. Does having a domain name that has the brand name in it really matter?
No.

When you are rich and famous you can buy a matching domain name but these days it’s less important.

I have 2 businesses I'm looking at brand for. One is media marketing agency and the other is supplements ish related but wanted scope to incorporate other products.
I tried lots of names and used ai to create numerous as well. for the agency i couldn't find any singular made up words and not much luck on 2 words eg green lemon.

im not the brand.
Doesn’t matter. It’s just a name.

I get my car serviced at Rees Bros. There was never a Rees, nor were there any brothers.

Nobody cares about what you call your brand. So just use your name. You can always rebrand later.

‘EG Walker Supplements’. Sounds good to me.

As @HFE Signs said, it’s about who you are targeting and how you plan to do your marketing.

The name itself is less important than you think.

will have to agree to disagree.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with, but the key point here is that the brand follows the product, bit doesn't lead and needn't reflect the product.

The exception is where the marketing plan revolves entirely around building a brand, rather than selling product.

Coca-cola doesn't say fizzy drink

Mars doesn't say chocolate - the brands grew on the back of the product.

Wakers supplements is as good a brand as any at this point

So that's a prime candidate for a totally made up name or phrase.

and the other is supplements ish related but wanted scope to incorporate other products.
Even more reason not to tie the company to the brands. Establish brands for each product and choose any old company and domain name.

I tried lots of names and used ai to create numerous as well. for the agency i couldn't find any singular made up words and not much luck on 2 words eg green lemon.
I simply don't believe you have tried hard enough. Did you ask AI to limit it's suggestions to names that are available? Even if you find an existing name you can still use it, even trademark it, if you are not passing off and it's a different trademark class. Are the ones you clash with even in the same country?

Walker + Supplement = Wallement , Walklement, Walment That's three off the top of my head. No AI neccessary.

I would have to disagree. It could end up being a real mouthfull if you have more than a couple of keywords.
Yes of course, I assumed this was common sense

I can see there’s some conflicting advice here, so it’s natural to feel a bit overwhelmed. This topic is always up for debate. our domain name can be different from your brand name.

    greenlemonhealth.com, green-lem.com, greenlemhealth.com, lemvita.com, lemorahealth.com are not taken.

You can explore variations of different extensions of your idea. Yes .com and .co.uk are the strong choices (for several reasons) but there are lots of alternatives out there that won't harm your business.

Unless you choose something like .blog so naturally users might get confused. I personally like the idea of choosing something different, like .co or .life (particularly good for your health and wellness brand). Don't think too much into it. You've got this!
